A big part of why ADC's are very strong is just support itemization

It's too good right now. It's easy to make an ADC unkillable with insane amounts of shielding, healing and whatnot. Support items are too cheap and too strong. Even toplaners start to take those. While I do understand that support has not always been a fun role and will always remember the times where supports in competitive barely had anything more than tier 1 boots when they needed to purchase green and pink wards back in the days, While I also respect support players a lot, This is unbalanced. I would rather have supports buffed and support itemization nerfed than an automatic ADC meta because it's too easy to make him immune to assassination. And I'm aware it might once again cause the problem of some supports going to sololane such as Lulu or whatever.

It's not like adc's are weak either. The powercreep has been both in the marksmen reworks and also in the numerous support item improvements; and it has drastically increased botlane influence, to the point where the game is way too dependent on botlane success.

a big part of why adc are strong is, because they buffed the shit out of their itemization for no reason, generally nerfed defensive itemization, gave them absurd amounts of lifesteal to synergize with their offense, gave them ad/anti-burst itemization like item 3026 that lets them be safer without any tradeoff. lets not forget they gave them scaling mr/lvl too.

better support itemization benefits everyone on the team with the support. at leats it should. though i agree that marksmen tend to benefit the most from the extra heals and shields by a decent margin, because for some reason support temization tends to be specialized towards squishy carries. but they also buffed marksmen directly in multiple ways. offense and defense.

The scaling mr per level for ranged champions was one of the dumbest and most forgotten buffs riot has made in the past year for ADCs, ESPECIALLY now that mages have item 3102 and carries have always fucking had item 3139 item 3156

They nerfed the lifesteal of botrk from 15 to 12% 7.11

7.9 dd 75-80 bt 75-80

In so far of season 7 besides the botrk getting changed a bit in 7.3 or 4 in that area. That is about all that has happened for lifesteal.

Bloodthirster used to have 12% for the old one, with 6% more to make it 18% fully stacked.

However the new one why was no one bitching about that 20% lifesteal when assassins were running around 1 shotting anything?

Because no one cared. Now that adc are on top again which is just another cycle of whos going on top this month? They will address ADC most likely toning down the damage on the items. May even look at the support items and tune them down too.

It will be addressed so calm down. The only reason people are bitching is because supports make the ADC look better than they really are.

idk if i should hate or love this meta

i hate imbalanced things but i love long duration teamfights ala season 2

this brings way more strategy to the game however i agree that toplaners building support items should not be allowed

**nerfing items and buffing supports will force you to ONLY pick some champions in the support role remember when supports had no items? this wasn't a problem, the support role wasn't boring, support mains enjoyed supporting however the support role was 8 or 9 champions that were balanced around having no items ** riot gave supports items while nerfing dedicated supports to make everyone able to be played as a support, (when i say everyone, i mean more champions than dedicated supports, this is due to items that brand/zyra/malz were able to support)

I just love watching how long caitlyn is auto attacking gragas, and janna shields or heals him. Made me laugh.

The dream is that we get less stat spam and more active mechanics like the new Zekes. In my books shields and heals are by far the most boring thing for supports to use, which is why the overabundance lately bothers me. I prefer more engaging mechanics like Braum's shield rather than just hitting all my number keys and standing there.

I disagree. In my opinion, the thing that makes ADC's very strong is their high damage output and ability to kill champions with said damage. Without it, they would be nothing. Imagine a Draven if he couldn't deal damage with his rightclicks. He would just be a walking ultimate, useless.

It's a combination of both things imo. Without supports, ADC's are already quite strong, with support items they become overwhelming.

I'd still rather address item 3046 item 3812 item 3026 before touching support items, though it's likely that some support items will still need to be looked at. I'd look at the carry side of itemization first.

They are supposed to be strong when supported properly. That's why we have that meta for years now, because it's strong and it works. What exactly is the problem when an ADC is actually able to do his job?

The problem? First off, assassins whose job is to kill ADC's can not be done. Then, adc's have been balanced around having insanely high DPS to compensate the fact that they get easily killed. Since they don't get easily killed anymore, their balance state goes to 'too strong', they're just the center of all the teamfight. They're also too safe within a comp that is not even designed to "protect the ADC". You can build a protect the ADC comp in a comp that isn't even defined by the weaknesses of a protect the ADC comp. Just stack a bunch of support-tank items on your frontline that are basically as good as normal tanky items and that's it.

And when both adc's are safe, it's just a battle of them dps'ing the frontline. You won botlane? gg, won the game. That's what happens when an ADC is able to do his job without any counterplay.

We've had that meta for years because even when they're not able to do perfectly their job, adc's + supports just bring so much to the team they're basically essential... Why buff them, like what the hell.

Ofc I'm slightly exagerating and it depends also on elo. But the problem is real.

Forbid the most vulnerable position be useful. People like you are why noone wants to play support.

However riot has repeatedly buffed marksmen items, just look at each of the class 'updates'.

Support itemization is too strong and it takes away from choosing particular supports for certain situations. AOE heals and shields used to be exclusive to Sona Janna Soraka Karma, but any support can viably buy these items because their actives are so strong. So enchanters lose a unique characteristic to their kits. But at the same time, a lot of the support items make squishy supports needlessly tanky with all of the added survivability, armor, and mr. It would be equally crazy if Riot created an item which offered AOE hard CC.
