if riot wants to make champions viable in more roles, i think garens secondary should become jungle

his villainy passive lends itself well to a jungler actually. he could go where hes needed much sooner in the game and try to stop snowballing enemies before they become too much of a problem.

instead of beeing stuck on the other side of the map, as a jungler he would have more freedom to go where the villain is instead of waiting for him to get further and further ahead until garen finally gets out of top lane or the enemy team starts rotating around the map to him because theyve already won the other lanes.

edit.: ive tried predator garen in the past, and its an entirely different playstile on him than what youd usually do with him on top lane, but works better than you might expect. you have to basically focus on hard pushing the lane and roam a lot into mid lane with the item active. if he was a better jungler overall, this would probably be the ideal keystone for him to rush into skirmishes to help his allies, and also to hunt down villains.

Holy strategy batman. This actually makes a lot of sense, I don't know why I never thought of this before! Riot PLEASE notice this idea!

thing is also, riot wants to keep him as a low mechanical champion overall.

think of a lot of similar champions who arent as exceptionally mechanical as Azir Riven Yasuo Ryze

a lot of them are very strategic jungle picks.

Shyvana with her dragon passive and is all about dragon control Warwick with his global presence and blood scent Nunu as a counter jungler Udyr as a split pusher

etc.

Good points for sure :) And I like that some of these champions can be taken top-lane, like Warwick, Udyr, and Vi (I know, not on your list).

maybe they dont even have to do a lot.

if large jungle monsters gave him a full 1 resistance stack on his w passive, instead of 0.25 resistance, it might be enough. a couple extra resistance points early on might improve his jungle clear a lot.

This would be interesting, tbh. I always enjoyed jungling garen, if only his clear wasn't so god awful early.

10 out of 10, would play

Can't say the ganks would be that great but if they adjust his numbers on jungle camps and made him start with a tiny bit armor, maybe he could have a good clear.

like i said. predator could help with that. get the 300 gold for boots, recall and then look towards ganking a lane, if the enemy team isnt already pushed in and you might be able to gank without the active.

I like it. I like Garen.

Also give him a bushren skin with a grass skirt just to cement him as a jungler.

I played against a Garen jungle yesterday with predator. He put our Eve jungler Into the dirt lol.

The only reason i don't like this is because his kit is toxic(The silence mainly). I'm sure we can all remember a time a Garen ran at you at light speed, smacked you with his sword and the only thing you could do is sit there and wait for him to decide to press R.

Honestly if it weren't for the fact he has a Silence and an Execute, i think it would be fine, even with the True Damage and massive resistances he gains from Villain passive(against that person). I mean, i'm gonna be real i hate Cho'Gath for the same reason, no Juggernaut or Tank should have a silence in my opinion because it removes what makes them beatable, imagine if Illaoi, Yorick, Darius or Urgot had silences, that's scary af dude.

I do agree that Garen should be a jungler, but i don't think he can be because of the nature of his kit, he may need to be Mini-Reworked or Reworked again before we can put him in the role he should be in.

If Riot makes Garen a capable Jungler soon that end up being all he's capable of Exhibit; Nidalee, Yi, Lee...etc

that depends on how they do it. if theyre only doing changes that make his kit interact better with jungle monsters, then it would work.

for example if he gained more resistances on his w off large jungle monsters than regular minions, or his spin would somehow deal more damage against jungle monsters it would be a change that wouldnt affect how lane garen works.

another possibility would just be to make his passive somehow more effective in the jungle. at the moment it fully deactivates at early levels, when hes hit by jungle monsters. i could see something like his passive only being set on a 3 second cooldown by jungle monsters working, so he can still take damage from the camps, but heal up a bit while hes moving between camps.

changes like this wouldnt affect lane garen.
