New Athene's on Bard

Been wondering if the new Athene's Unholy Grail would be a good pick on Bard. It could be a good buff for his otherwise mediocre heal, giving it some extra oomph while casting a fresh health shrine under someone in a skirmish.

Anyone knows if the extra heal can proc from far away? Say top laners grabs it while Bard is bot.

I'll probably try it nonetheless, but i was wondering if anyone that tried it had any thoughts about it.

Edit: Also anyone knows if the extra heal is granted to all target when used with an ability that heals/shield multiple champions at once? Like Soraka's ult. Would it proc from Locket? Athene's states it procs when shielding an ally, but doesn't specify the source. If it can multi-heal from a Locket in the heat of a teamfight i can see it being really powerful!

Well athenes only applies the same base heal as ur heal so it can be useful but on Morgana it's really good

Hey there, not sure if you still need an answer to this but yes, Anthene's will still proc from a distance.

As to thoughts about it, at max rank, Bard's W will heal for 150 if used immediately and about 250 if left to fully charge first. This would mean because Anthene's will heal 100-250 hp in addition to whatever heal/shield to cast on an ally, Bard's W would literally double in effectiveness. And because of bard's crazy damage output for a utility support combined with the cooldown between W's, you will always have a surplus of stacks to apply to heals, getting the maximum effect.

Math aside, I love Anthene's Grail on Bard because every stat the item has will work well with Bard (especially that 20% CDR, Yay Stuns!) and it turns his mediocre healing into something that can keep up with soraka's sustain. Plus, with the Mana regen it gives you in the stats and the Unique passive combined with his Chimes, Mana ceases to be a factor for Bard. So heal away!

Bard + item 3174 = WIN!
