Zeke's Herald Revamp

So, Zeke's Herald is currently one of the few remaining Aura items in the game that benefits allies directly. The problem is, the stats it provides is counterintuitive and not really good to pick up in on any champion. I'd honestly love to see this turned into a strategic item that offers some unique chances for team synergy and gameplay.

So, I now Present to you a NEW Zeke's Herald! NEW RECIPE: item 3801 +item 3801 +item 2053 + 300 Gold = 2500 gold STATS: +400 HP +200% Base Health Regen

  • 40 Armor Unique Passive - Point Runner: Builds up to 30% bonus MS over 2 seconds when near turrets (including fallen ones). UNIQUE ACTIVE - Rally Flag: Plants a flag at a target location that encourages allies, granting them 20 armor while within 5001000 units. Allies that are not in battle gain a bonus 200% Base Health Regen. Allies running towards the flag also gain 30% bonus MS. The Flag will be destroyed in oneThree attacks, and if not destroyed lasts 10 seconds. (Flag cannot be targeted by allies) (75 second cooldown)

This allows Zeke's herald to be a neat concept of, THIS IS OUR TURF, You can't move us! By making it easy to counter (A single auto attack), it creates a neat fantasy. It also has a cool idea of "DEFEND THE LOW ALLY!" So they can regen up. (this could be removed). It also has a unique identity of the Armor Aura item in a way that's different from the way Aegis and Locket work.

This is only a concept, and is definitely up for discussion.

What ideas would you guys like to see changed for Zeke's Herald to make it more usable?

Eh, I honestly like Zeke's as is. Could probably use a bit of a buff, something like upping the health to 400 and have it build out of Giant's Belt instead of kindlegem, remove the CDR (since CDR is already incredibly easy to build on a support), and adjust the price down a bit to around 2250.

The problem is, it gives AD/Lifesteal/HP/CDR. Not at all a good combination for any support. It's not even worth taking on most fighters because it doesn't give enough stats to be worth taking, and it doesn't give any good stats for tanks other than a mediocre amount of HP.

The other problem is that buffing it won't make it any better, especially since it's purpose is as an AD/Lifesteal Granting Aura. The problem is, that type of aura has to be super weak, because if it were strong enough to be noticible, it'd be broken OP, or so costly that it's not worth picking up.

Even if Zeke's Herald is "Balanced" it's so underwealming to pick up, and it feels like it's just wasting an inventory slot. The rare times that it's picked up is usually by things like support Ashe (Who can actually take advantage of the AD/Lifesteal aura herself) or Support Gangplank (Again someone who can take advantage of the AD/Lifesteal aura for themselves).

AD/Lifesteal for the people around you is great for a support, especially early game for your ADC. Helps immensely in teamfights if your team is largely AD. That's what you have to look at, as a support, you're not itemizing for you, you're itemizing for your team. The aura being fairly weak is fine, imo. It grants roughly the equivalent of 3 Doran's blades to everyone around you, so about 1300 gold worth of damage/lifesteal per champion. In a teamfight, it can make quite a difference. I agree that the health it gives is underwhelming and should be increased though.

True, the values are not terrible for the Aura, but it's the same problem the old WotA had. Yeah the aura helps sustain your team, but they don't really ever get to feel the value, because Most of the time, it's abilities that are being used to deal the most damage, and Autos are generally only used by the ADC. Unlike Aegis/Locket, where EVERYONE get's the boost and gets to take advantage of it (because it's a stat everyone uses equally) Not everyone get's to take advantage of the bonus AD or Lifesteal to its fullest extent.

I'd much rather have it be something that gives a tactical advantage, or stats that everyone can use equally. than something that only one of my teammates get's to take advantage of, and I get no benefit other than some tank stats, most of which are wasted since most supports end up capping on CDR.

Way too easy to destroy, and the active is rather useless in the first place.

It'd basically only get use if you're using while running away or taking an objective.

That's the purpose of the item, as an alternative Siege item against teams that are more physical damage reliant.

And besides, it's range of the Rally Aura is 500 units, that means you can actually stick it behind you close to your back line, making it hard to destroy in the 10 seconds it's up, and if you drop it during a hectic fight, no one is really going to stop their combo just to waste an auto on a flag that is out of their reach.

What would you suggest doing to make it more relevant for teamfighting?

An auto takes no time at all, and it happens naturally during fights, so it's extremely vulnerable and difficult to take advantage of.

Increase the range to 1100 and give it a genuine health system of 3 hits (no spells). That's it. The duration is short enough for the stat aura to be balanced.

okay, that makes sense. Thanks for your input.

I pick up starks on a regular basis

you're probably one of the few people who do. Since Zeke's Herald is in less than .2% of all games. Usually hovering around .15%

That means that if there are 100 million games, Zeke's herald shows up in around 150 thousand. That's barely noticeable.

The best way to put it, is actually, out of every 1000 games, Zeke's Herald will show up in 1 or 2 of those games.

You're one of the few people that will go out of the way to pick it up on champions.

At least that item still have AD, HP, CDR for USER only... for the Aura... now hard...

CrazedPorcupine1 votes

Except, my revamped Zeke's herald doesn't grant AD at all. only HP/ HP Regen/Armor and conditional MS.

IwfiKe3qjM1 votes

what I mean is I'm hoping that change to Zeke... so not only Tanks or AP can support... but Bruiser and even AD can support too... yes I agree the passive needs changed from the current one... but still... and for your item rather than item 3801 + item 3801 + item 2053 why not item 3801 + item 3067 (and maybe 1 other item too but... what???) to add some CDR (although will lose Armor and Point Runner passive)???
