Yes I build Mejai's Soulstealer on support Lux.

Terozu··21 votes·7,611 views

It gives me high ap and movement speed, two invaluable stats on Lux, for a measly 1400 gold, which lets me spend my small amount gold income on other support items and still do substantial damage and shielding.

Stop.

Pinging.

My item.

Sorry for ranting, I know no one here cares.

the item is fine on lux. the problem is lux isnt a support.

is it ? lets see

BUT I THOUGHT LUX WASN'T A SUPPORT?!?!?!

Ger real.

being picked into a role dont make that champ that role

picking viegar/velkoz support dont make them supports.

lux is a mage meant to be built damage and to do damage. she isnt meant as a support. zyra isnt meant as a support, brand isnt meant as a support and neither was annie, morgana, trundle, sion etc etc

just cuz the meta changed and allows them to be played in a role that the champ wasnt built or designed to be dont make them that champ/role type.

Rathar Dashing5 votes

Uh, yes it does. If a champ can be played in a role, that means they are that role, at least in part.

no she wasnt designed or released as a support . she is a mid lane mage that is her design

its like saying mundo is a tank cuz he builds tank when he isnt a tank he is a juggernaut

Rathar Dashing4 votes

Uhh okay, having the biggest shield in the game along with a root and a slow doesn't make you a support. Sure I guess have your opinion.

Terozu7 votes

Lux literally was designed to be a more supportish version of Morgana.

Thats her design.

MrFawknSunshine2 votes

{quoted}

Lux literally was designed to be a more supportish version of Morgana.

Thats her design.

how is she a more supportish designed then morgana?

more has a longer stun, she has a point n click shield, she also has an aoe root for ult

what support items to u actually build when u play lux besides item 3092 ?

Terozu4 votes

Morg has a point and click AP SPELL SHIELD, which is more effectively used against mages who are usually mid lane.

Morg has a longer snare by about 1 second, and it only effects the first target.

Her passive was always sustained base.

And her ult is centered around team fighting.

Lux was designed to have almost the same kit.

Except her passive is poke based.

Her Q can snare two targets indicating she belongs in a double lane.

Her W is a normal shield, and the strongest one in the game, it is also aoe which means she can shield more than one person.

She also has an aoe damaging ability, except hers allows her to zone enemies off farm and acts as a slow for extra peel.

The only thing Morg has over Lux in the support department is the ult.

Which is because Morg is a battle mage. Lux's ult is designed to snipe kills when the person gets away so they dont survived, or to help far away team mates she wouldn't otherwise possible and something morg cant do.u

MrFawknSunshine1 votes

and morgana wasnt designed as a support either she is a zone/control mage

just cuz she is played as a support dont mean that is her design. same argument with lux. OH BTW I AM A SUPPORT MAIN SINCE SEASON 2

" Lux's ult is designed to snipe kills when the person gets away so they dont survived, or to help far away team mates she wouldn't otherwise possible and something morg cant do. "

right 100% cuz lux is meant to do damage and get kills by building ap and damage not support. just goes to prove more so that lux isnt meant to be a support.

its fine if you choose to play her as such but she is a mid lane mage

Terozu3 votes

Being able to deal damage from long lane isnt what decides your fucking class.

Shes designed as a poke support.

That is a damage oriented support.

She is not the only one in this playstyle.

item 3174 item 3504

so you are building unholy grail to try to heal when using your shield? and only can proc its heal and the passive of ardent when your team mates get hit by a skill shot shield that you clearly arent maxing as lux?

Rathar Dashing3 votes

I build Athene's because of my poke damage, it makes my W heal in addition to shielding, making it super useful since it's basically always full after an E or a Q. Ardent is great on certain team comps because it can hit EVERYONE, meaning you can take dragon/baron much faster, or basically just give your entire team an extra edge in a teamfight (or at least as many as you can hit, which is usually 1 or 2).

Also I max W second as Lux, because it's the biggest freaking shield in the game, except for Shen ult and Karma ult, which are ultimates.

IainG101 votes

I max W first, then E. But I also play her more as a cc+shield bot than as a poke.

By mid-game you can be adding 700hp to each member of your team with a well-aimed W; you essentially give out a Warmog to everyone else, with an almost 50% uptime. Please, tell me more how Lux can't be played as a Support.... She always had one of the better shields in terms of hp, and it didn't get a nerf in the Shield-Supp pass a few moths ago.

item 3117 item 3174 item 3092 item 3165 item 3107 and either item 3157 or item 3102

item 3504 is nice, but AS is not a universally super-useful stat, and I can do way more stuff in a fight if I'm still alive......

Rathar Dashing1 votes

item 3504 buff is situational, but it's not the only reason you take it. It also gives 60 AP, which is nice, along with CDR, mana regen (which is more AP if you have item 3174 ) and movement speed, and it even makes your shield stronger.

IainG101 votes

Indeed, but both item 3174 and item 3157 give 15 more AP (whereas the 50% BMR from item 3504 translates to 10 AP via Athene's), and each massively improves survivability if correctly chosen and used (e.g. don't take Banshee's and then expect to survive a Zed ult).

Autrah Fang3 votes

{quoted}

she also has an aoe root for ult

First time I've seen a stun get confused for a root... I see it a lot the other way around (had someone argue with me about whether Lux's root is a stun... the person in question was playing Lux and had SG), but I've never seen someone say that a stun was a root XD

https://lolalytics.com/ranked/worldwide/platinum/plus/champion/Lux/Support/graphs/

as you can see on this graph the most % picked lux support is bronze at about 17.98%, then silver at 12.44% , gold @ 7.43%, plat 4.4% , diamond + 2.47%

now why would the higher you go in elo the lower and lower she is picked as a support?

now if we look at the same graph for lux mid

bronze she has a pick rate at about 8.5% silver @ 8.5% gold about 7% , plat 6.5% and diamond + about 4.5%

so even by graph at higher elos she is picked more at mid then support why is that?

she is most effective in her main role which is a mid lane mage. cuz you and other people pick her at support dont make her one

Terozu1 votes

She is mostbplayed mid at higher elos because then the support can go another support.

At high elos having two support focused characters is far more valued than just one.

The character is a viable support at all ranks of the game.

She was designed to be a support.

Also that means that overall Lux is played more as a support than a mid. Proving me right.

no she wasnt. other wise she would have a different built paths, scalings and abilities

she is a zone/control mage not a support

look at traditional supports , sona, nami, lulu, raka, janna they have abilities that can directly shield , protect , enhance, heal , protect the adc in lane or allies in fights

lux doesnt. her shield is a skill shot shield that the ally has to walk through to be shield. she has no heal , no enhancements to adcs what so ever.

having some cc dont make you a support. you are fine if you care to play her as such. but you admit you build damage with meja's. support items on her dont work with her kit at all in any efficient way. and she isnt played as a support in higher elos cuz its not ideal. she is best mid with AP ITEMS AND BUILD hence higher win rates and pick rates at that role. and as a support she is ranked 18th out of supports there is legit 17 better supports to play

Terozu2 votes

Lulu sona janna and the like arent 'traditional' supports.

They are enchanters.

Lux is a control mage yes, a control mage who can go support.

Name one reason she isnt a support.

One actual reason.

cuz she is a mid lane mage her kit is designed to be such. lulu, janna, sona, nami arent mid lane mages, or jungles or tops, playing them as such gimps your team the only time they were played out of support role is when they were completely over tuned which most supports were/are due to them having more utility then damage in their kits. hence why janna got nerfed , lulu solo lanes got nerfed and so on.

once again IF YOU WANT TO BE A LUX SUPPORT FINE, PLAY IT. IM NOT TELLING YOU CANT OR DONT. IM JUST STATING SHE IS A MID LANE MAGE NOT A SUPPORT.

Terozu1 votes

No. She is a poke support. She wss intended to be the demacian support.

Lulu Janna sona and nami have all been played in many roles to great success and still fucking do.

Lux is just as much a support as a mid laner you just dont like her being a supp.

i dont care if you play her whatever role i keep telling you this. you are getting upset cuz she isnt a support she is a mage.

what would you classify velkoz, viegar? supports or mages?

cuz both are played in both roles

IainG101 votes

Why are you saying Mage and Support are mutually exclusive? That's like saying Leona isn't a Tank, because she's a Support... she's both.

Terozu3 votes

And to prove you wrong https://youtu.be/pJB6JWDESWU

Here is her fucking spitlight which her literal designer calls her a caster with support emphasis.

She is a support who is played mid. Not a mid who is played support.

Terozu3 votes

I would classify the as mages because thats how they were designed.

But as her fucking designer said. https://youtu.be/pJB6JWDESWU

Lux was designed to be a support.

You. Are. Wrong.

Terozu3 votes

So now when faced with undeniable proof you are wrong you're still denying it.

And btw i build item 3069 item 3009 item 3905 item 3100 , and then whatever item i need. Some times thats a rabadons, other times a gunblade, other timea an athenes. You know who else build those items in the support role?

Lulu. Sona. Janna. Nami.

You are either a troll or a child. And I am done with you.

You are either a troll or a child. And I am done with you.

so you still ignore other mages played as support when directly asked about them, i asked what support items you build , you dont, you build full ap as a support and ur post is about an ap snowballing item as a support. yet im the troll and/or child?

i stated over and over you can play her as a support i never said you couldnt. that wasnt the point. the point is she is a mid lane mage who is better mid then support at all elos/ranks and picked more at mid then support in higher elos/ranks where the game is balanced around. and you ignore all of this.

isnt that a case of the pot calling the kettle black?

Terozu3 votes

She is a support played mid. You state otherwise. You are wrong.

I didnt ignore them. I classify them based on how they are desigend.

Veig and vel are mages. Because they are designed as mages.

IainG101 votes

And both also work as supports; Veigar is one of my favourite supports to use with an MF in lane

Terozu3 votes

oh and btw, here's the client too. https://imgur.com/8QnLsyP

Marothennan3 votes

Yes she is very common in low elo where people go " i dont play support kys dude im playing lux support "

Terozu4 votes

Just because a couple trolls play her doesnt mean she isnt a good support.

She has an aoe slow she can use to zone, the strongest base shield in the game, and a two person snare.

Marothennan3 votes

Aaaand every "real" support is pretty much straight up better than her and there's no reason to gimp your team by picking her :)

Terozu3 votes

Please explain how you gimp your team by playing her.

And any support is situational.

Rathar Dashing3 votes

Ah yes, Lulu is so much better than Lux right now.

Rαy11 votes

You only get these stats when insanely ahead and without ever dying though, no?

Terozu9 votes

Lux is an artillery champion, due to her long range and cc, she can play very safely, which allows her to build up the stacks over time.

CasterGilgamesh4 votes

too bad her adcs dont know how to play safe from range [sg-lulu]

Marothennan5 votes

Stop pinging his item. Read and learn guys: Op.gg your supports, if they play lux then just ban it, save your lp

Skeletons Grave2 votes

jesus the age old argument of lux support mains trying to convince the entire player base that she is a support when she isnt. Every thing she does that is supportish someone else does better. Ill tell you this, i played from season 1 till a few months ago regularly. EVERY SINGLE TIME we had a lux support, all 9 years, our team would complain. And every single time the lux did basically nothing to help the team win. She would get carried every time, get fed, and become a second mage. If we couldnt carry her then she was more useless then a 1-10 assassin because she is terrible at doing everything you need a support to do. She cant peel, or reliably use any part of her kit. And that is what supports are all about, RELIABILITY.

The SAD part is that for awhile lux was so outclassed mid that her support win rate became higher. Even so, if you pick lux support, you are intentionally tilting your adc and hurting your teams chance of winning.

Lux came out october 19 in season 2.

She hasnt even been out 8 years

Also https://youtu.be/pJB6JWDESWU

IainG102 votes

Hi, recent convert Lux Main here. She CAN be played Support, just as she CAN be played Mid. Karma, Morgana and Zyra all happilly fall into this category. They can all use a normal-looking support build and still be useful, they all help allies through a combination of shields and AoE cc. You wanna take issue with something being picked Bot Lane and just becoming an underfed carry who doesn't bring anything other than damage to the team, look at that burning piece of failed balance called Brand....
