#No, having skillshots doesn't count as a negative for her. There are so many champions that have skillshots more difficult and numerous than hers.

_Edit: Keep in mind that draw-backs are obviously relative to other champions. That is why 'skillshot' doesn't count. Her having skillshots doesn't somehow make her worse than Xerath or Syndra. Pretty sad that I have to include this. _

For the record, I do not think she's overpowered. I do not think she needs nerfs right now.

She could stand to be a little less reliable, but she's not a blatant outlier like Hecarim, Syndra, Twitch etc. I don't feel cheated when I play against her.

there is a problem when a champ has sustain+strong ms steroid+dashes+waveclear(yes since they reduced the hp of caster minions)+long range in laning phase

i never saw ahri losing lane, she wins or survives against almost everyone, making her win rate high

either remove the ms steroid, or rework the passive

they are

she has some of the longest range on a mobile champ and the longest range cc

and its got a good duration as well as scaling true damage and the only free motion triple dash with meaningful range you'll see in most games unless they gave one to someone else. She can actually dash 5 times without minions now.

Riven has a dash like that but only one of them can even get over walls or even go very far

Her skillshots are some of the most reliable due to how she has to play her kit.

Compared to pretty much every other champion with skillshots, hers are essentially the most reliable.

Skillshots have never been a negative because skillshots are not actually all that unreliable.

They do count as a "negative" but skillshots are accounted for. Riot isn't blind

WoonStruck2 votes

They aren't a negative lol.

Only poke is really unreliable. Skillshot, at least in the hands of half-decent players, are often not used unless they are very likely to land.

Hence why the concept of 'trading stance' is a thing in lane.

I think its you that fails to understand realistic scenarios. Yes, in a vacuum skillshots are worse than point-and-click. How many point-and-click mages do you see being played mid-lane? Annie has two 'skill-shots' so you can't pick her as an answer.

I understand realistic scenarios. You don't understand how the repeatedly explained design works. The skillshots do count as negatives for the champion power budgets. But only a complete idiot would put them into the game without accounting for them. The game was not made by complete idiots or there would be many more alternatives actually surviving than there are.

Skill shots are negatives that have already been balanced out. You can keep bullshitting if you like but all you're going to do work against yourself.

WoonStruck2 votes

Not even for power-budget. Skill-shots are more powerful than point-and-clicks in the large majority of cases. That is not a negative, that is a trade-off.

Also, skill-shots are the standard now. Point-and-clicks are not. Having a point-and-click these days is often more of a detriment to power-budget than having a skill-shot; the only exception is CC.

You can't have a tradeoff without losing something.. Like I said, its already something compensated for and trying to use that angle suggests you're speaking to fucking idiots or don't understand why skillshots would count as a negative. Its probably the latter.

The fact she has skillshots is a negative that she has been fully compensated for. There's no need to pretend that this is justification for anything to fluff up your terrible post just because you suck at writing up something like this.

Also, skill-shots are the standard now. Point-and-clicks are not. Having a point-and-click these days is often more of a detriment to power-budget than having a skill-shot; the only exception is CC.

which is why nobody but you and a few others who fail to know things are the only ones actually still going on about skillshots for every little thing.

In truth you don't know much about ahri's issues and are just looking for something to use. ._. this isn't it.

I suggest you look the following instead of continuing with your shitty argument:

changes to minions changes to mana regen the drop in control mage popularity in midlane as they migrate to top and bot lane

Ahri has no hard counters and does not hard counter anyone.

But there are mechanics that are very strong against ahri.

Zoning CC long range pursuits extreme burst on champs that can do either of the above.

You do not defeat ahri with your little bullshit counters, you must think 10 moves further. She is not the only champ who is like this either. There's also champs like Irelia Jayce LeeSin that will require a different type of counter if you are so dead set on doing so. Depending on your team Braum could be a powerpick vs ahri or Cassiopeia could be. You counter ahri by understanding the game and not building MS late.

WoonStruck2 votes
  1. Having a point-and-click often removes a lot of damage/range/something else from a skill or kit in general. That's a lot more power lost than skill-shots ever have to deal with.

  2. Powerful is not vague or misleading at all. Skill-shots have more range, damage, etc etc almost all the time. You pay far more for having a point-and-click than having a skill-shot.

3)No, you can't have a trade-off without losing something. But point-and-clicks lose WAY more than skill-shots in the large majority of cases, which is why you almost never see them anymore outside of melee/on-attack/on-hits. Hence why skill-shots are not a negative.

  1. If everyone in the game has skill-shots, and even primarily skill-shots, how can you conceivably consider skill-shots as a negative, especially when the net power they have is often much greater than point-and-clicks?

  2. I'm not asking for Ahri balance adjustments. Are you daft?

5)What are you going on about? You like to spew 'irrelevant' and 'bullshit' all day then proceed to spew irrelevant bullshit. lol

Except ahri is still one of the safest champions in the game when it comes to missing her skillshot

Not only can she re position herself to safety because of the movement speed boost on the Q but if someone decides to go in on ahri they can eat a charm which slows and takes away control of their character which gives her ample time to just walk away from a fight she doesn't want. or press r and leave.

Why this is downvoted when its true is beyond me. She has excelent waveclear, high DPS, solid sustain, very very high mobility, hard CC and a frequent movement speed boost, so she has all the virtues of both mages and assassins, except maybe extreme 1 shot burst, but she can 1 shot squishies without a problem at all points of the game. She is good at everything, but not saying she is overloaded as some champs (Yasuo ,LeeSin ), but as far as mages go she is an abomination that needs to be either turned into a real mage or be let to join the other high mobility ebola in the assassin class, real mages are immobile and this anime thingy is protected from nerfs because of huge player base consisting of fapping 12 year olds...

Brain Errör 4041 votes

Here I am asking for better wave clear on Ahri and people want her nerfed. :c

Considering how bad her early damage is and the fact that her mid game is the only good thing about it, I find it sad that people still complain about her.

WoonStruck3 votes

I don't want her nerfed, basically pointing out that she's been an above average jack-of-all-trades champion with 10%+ playrate and 53%+ winrate for around 5 years now.

Brain Errör 4042 votes

Most people that play Ahri are simply her mains. She's susceptible to ganks. Literally just make her waste her ulti defensively every time it's up and your laner will rarely ever be in trouble. It also gimps her roams as she can't really roam without her ulti and wouldn't want to in the first place.

Also, her wave clear is mediocre compared to a lot of FoTM mages right now. Even Ekko can out wave clear her atm. She's one of the easier mid laners to deal with, tbh. You can chunk her out of lane often even if you don't kill her, which you don't really have to. If she doesn't get a sizable lead in mid lane, she won't transition to her mid game strength all that well and once mid game passes, she'll be fairly weak as she doesn't scale too well to the late game.

You can probably even end the game in that time frame if you're playing properly. Ahri is in a fine spot, and as annoying as she CAN be, she's one of the most balanced champs in the game. I rarely have troubles playing against Ahri and always feel like I have to work extra hard playing as Ahri, especially depending on match ups. I now only take her into lanes that she extremely counters, rather than picking her for safety where games are being really extended.

Brain Errör 4041 votes

Uh... yes, she is. Ahri relies on poke before all in-ing someone unless she's fed. If you're getting hit with 2-3 orbs and drop below half health, then that's on you. However, she isn't like Annie/Syndra or Ryze where they'll run up to you the minute they hit 6 and drop you. She's much more delicate and has more finesse to her kit than those do.

She's also fairly mid Range more than she is a long range mage. Her W is a 550 range skill and she's not going to kill you with an "E/Q/R" combo alone, so she has to put her self in a pretty compromising position to get optimal damage off. her Q maxes at 850 range and her E, being her longest skill shot, at 925 meaning she can't unload both E/Q on you from a max ranged E without delaying her Q -- and considering she's maxing E second, the charm is at max 1.25 seconds (or even as low as 1 second -- this is at lvl 6 btw). This gives you more than adequate time to react.

She isn't super oppressive or anything, just really safe and dictates whether you can all in on her or not. Being annoying isn't exactly being difficult to deal with. She won't super Zone you out of CS like a Viktor/Cass or Syndra would unless she really counters you. She sits far enough back to where it's a farm fest mid lane and you don't have to worry about getting 100-0'd for some bullshit reason unless you really screwed up your lane somehow.

The reason Ahri wins so much is because of her safety net, not her insanely oppressive laning phase (which she obviously doesn't have).

Short ranges, ult reliant, high mana costs on W and E, pathetic W damage, low Q damage compared to other mid laners. She does not deal well against tanks/fighters even with the small amount of true damage on the return (which is about 300-400 late game. Sounds like a lot, but if they have Magic Resists, still only comes to about 150-200) If she misses the charm, she loses out on a lot of potential damage, any sort of crowd control can mess her up or even just blocking a portion of the damage.

  • She doesn't really have short ranges. She has long ranges on Q/E, which is all she'll be using until she has kill potential. Only bad Ahri players think she's still a burst champion. She can only really burst if insanely ahead. Ahri's there to catch people out of position and punish them without offering them the same option against her, not be Leblanc 2.0. W/R's range will ONLY be used if she's going to finish someone off, in which case the short range doesn't matter.

  • She's not super ult-reliant compared to others (almost every champ relies on their ult btw). Her ult just allows her to accomplish more things relative to positioning. She's plenty strong with just her Q/E kiting/poke. Its not like her ult offers good damage compared to the rest of her kit.

  • So many mages have higher mana costs, especially on their main spell. Most champions have high all-in costs, which is what her E and W are used for. You simply spam Q, which is relatively low cost, until you can all-in. If you're spamming W/E, you're doing it wrong.

  • True damage isn't reduced by magic resist, like you're implying?

  • If anyone misses their CC they lose out on a lot of potential damage.

  • Any sort of CC can mess anyone up.

  • Blocking a portion of anyone's damage messes almost any combo up.

Cassiopeia Morgana Lux Veigar Taliyah Heimerdinger Vladimir AurelionSol Yasuo Anivia Annie All these mid laners counter her.

Cass doesn't counter her. Morg doesn't counter her. Lux doesn't counter her. Veig doesn't counter her. Taliyah doesn't counter her; she can only punish you mispositioning, which is Ahri's strong-suit. Heimer doesn't counter her. Vlad doesn't counter her; she counters Vlad if anything. Sol doesn't counter her. Yas doesn't counter her. Anivia doesn't counter her....

So we have a grand total of just Annie. One champ. And Annie honestly beats most champions that can't out-range/burst/CC her early.

Garen Renekton Tryndamere Blitzcrank Azir Nasus Zac VelkozGalio Hecarim Chogath Vi LeeSin can still be a nightmare for her to deal with.

Can be a nightmare for anyone to deal with. Ahri isn't specifically weak against any of those outside of maybe Hecarim or Vi, and, again, they would be a nightmare for anyone to deal with. More-so than Ahri, even.

On top of that, she's extremely vulnerable to ganks if she doesn't have Flash and Ult up. Most will use the ult in one of two ways: either to kite to get damage off or running away. If you can make them burn it for the latter, then you've turned a 5v5 into a 4v5.

Only vulnerable if she's mispositioning horribly, like with any other ranged champ. Compare to someone like Annie. In fact, due to Ahri's Q, she's better off than every other immobile champion in the game when it comes to ganks/positioning.

Ahri's ult simply makes it harder to punish her positioning. She can still easily contribute a lot to a fight without it. Its in no way 4v5 unless you somehow think Ahri is an assassin right now. She's a kiting mage, which her Q/E/W are still very strong, especially with each other, at accomplishing, even without the ult.

As an Ahri player I've found that Anivia Annie Cassiopeia Chogath Diana Lissandra Ryze Syndra are her real counters because of their debilitating CC and they're too tanky for her to one-shot unless she's super far ahead.

That being said Annie and Anivia particularly are soft counters. You can kite out of their ranges/around them but they're (relatively) tanky and you're not going to kill them in one burst so you usually need to move to their AD/support for picks.

Oh and Yasuo because his only weak spot is mid-game (your strong point) and he still has the tools to nullify your impact during that time and then outscale you.

WoonStruck2 votes

Aren't they mostly match-ups you simply have to play 'away' from, rather than 'into'?

Being unable to burst someone doesn't really mean they counter you. If you can still farm the lane, they are not a counter in the slightest unless something about their team-fighting prevents you from functioning. Like Yasuo.

Elaborate on "playing away from rather than into."

Also, a counter is one where a champ's strengths are less pronounced/outright nullified by another champion's strengths.

Ahri's strengths going into a game are her kiting, burst damage, and mobility. Unless you're sending other assassins to prevent her from doing her job in skirmishes and teamfights, she needs to use these to dive the backline.

Diana, despite being an assassin, is considerably tankier, point-and-click, you have a 50-50 to escape her moonfall, and she will likely dash a second time for most of your HP. That is a counter. This has been exacerbatedsince Charm no longer stops her mid-dash. She will take you out of the game in most scenarios.

Same with Cassiopeia. With an Abyssal and Rylai's under her belt you cannot dive her late-game unless you force her ultimate early. Until then she outdps's you and her W stops your ultimate so you need to pick up kills somewhere along the way to stop her in her tracks.

Brain Errör 4041 votes

Don't forget Annie will 1 shot you if you go too close -- even if you get an early abyssal too.

Essentially attempting to bait them into a bad position, as opposed to trying to pressure them into one. Attempting to punish, as opposed to force plays.

This is usually due to a difference in power-spikes, but due to range/chasing potential, some champions are forced to play defensively regardless of power-spikes.

As far as counters I'd agree but more for the fact that they can stop you from team fighting due to their damage/lockdown or have much better engage/counter-engage. Tankiness has never felt like the issue to me with those champs in lane or in teamfights, barring a fed Diana or Cho.

Wouldn't you be staying out of range of the majority of those match-ups and still be able to maintain farm either way?

  1. Baiting them into a bad position is not the definition of one at all. It's the ability to nullify strengths based on kit strengths.

  2. Ahri is the queen of engage. Any ability to counterengage, because it does significantly more to her than, say, a Malphite, is very good at countering her.

  3. Not really. Even Faker, the last time he played Ahri vs. Cassio (Season 5 before Cassiopeia got reworked into being even stronger), was down 30 cs like 10 minutes in. Syndra is just as bad in terms of lane oppressiveness. If Cho'Gath can maintain the wave with his E (believe me he can) he'll be on the aggressive and can outtrade you with W or WQ every time. It's not always as easy to maintain farm as people make it seem. Ahri in particular doesn't have the greatest trading tools due to the lack of shields, inability to trade well in minions, and her sustain is better suited to being used on minions over trading aggressively.
