Which one do you usually build as a first item if you are like me and spam spells left and right?

Depends. If enemy has healers such as Soraka and Sona, I go for morello's.

And if the enemy has AP champions, the little MR from the cup helps better.

The regen from Athenes is insane compared to Morellos. Athenes hands down if you are a super aggressive spell spammer. If I need more damage that Athenes can provide, I get double Morellos instead.

Uhh , unless you have RoA, the difference in regen is barely there at all and not significant in the slightest.

Athenes has the mana font passive which makes quite a difference especially when you're constantly spamming below 50% mana. I've stalled out hard on Morellos but never on Athenes. The only reason I dislike Athenes is that the AP is too low. When I need to amp up damage quickly, it really hurts to build it as you still have to build another item for damage while something like ROA gives you both the mana and the AP. Also the MR is very negligible, and thus another stat I don't need.

I only get Athene's against AP assassins. Otherwise Morello all the way.

item 3174 is more general purpose. As long as the enemy has some magic damage, it's effective. item 3165 is more, if they have a massive healer/regen tank/lifetap, then you build it to specifically counter that. So, yes...pretty much everyone will 'usually' build cup...

Actually, the meta is that Morello is the standard for all mana regen. Especially given the utility it offers against the AD assassin/marksman meta.
