Why is there a delay after Aatrox's Q before he can use E?

Feels clunky as shit. The whole point of the dash is that it can be used with his other abilities, but the huge lag before you can actually use it is cumbersome.

Combined with the useless tooltips on his abilities that don't say for example, HOW MUCH BONUS AD he gets from his E or R, you know, pretty important information, the whole rework feels extremely incomplete.

Was the work on it done over the course of an afternoon using code left over from other champions or something? It's the only explanation for how completely horrible it feels all together.

that press shift for more info thing is bulshit, i want to know at a glance what this skill does and the numbers, not a vague description

Relax, they said its a thing theyre testing to see if its preferred or more useful (probably for newer players to not overload them). If its not liked theyll likely change the idea or scrap it.

well they should test that shit on the pbe not on live servers

And the default should always be more info, not less.

Riot tends to err on the side of player idiocy and unwillingness to want to know things they consider "pesky details."

No. The ability's tooltip SHOULD NEVER overwhelm you with sheer numbers and scalings that get in the way of actually summarizing what the ability is supposed to be doing. Some people appreciate the extra info (veterans) while many players do not and would be turned off from playing the said champion if Riot threw all the (currently irrelevant) information right at their faces, expecting them to immediately understand the nuances of how a champion should perform at their best/worst.

Make it a toggle and move on. I used it immediately when I started this game, and constantly up until this day. I have never heard of it confusing new players, or any of my friends when I introduced it to them.

If certain players are struggling with this, for whatever reason, chances are they may be a bit too dense to play the game in the first place.

Lol what?

That’s exactly what the fucking Shift function is for. At a glance, in an ideal world, you should see the full damage of the ability and quick 2 sentence what it does. Shift could pull up scalings and further information, even flavor text.

Alright. Ive played one or two games of a champ. Now what would be more usefull vague reminder of what skill I want to use or the actual fuking ability and how much premitigation damage or stats its gonna give? Why would I ever need to the tooltip to tell me that Aatrox e is dash and a small burst of ad that can be used to reposition q. After playing the champ one game I should be able to remember that. The actual useful information is the actual details.

They physically cannot test something like this on PBE. Most people dont play on the PBE, especially newer players.

They did. I played Aatrox on PBE and i noticed the new tooltip format. The fact that you find it problematic doesn't mean it's bad. It honestly feels like Riot can't do any change anymore unless it lands perfectly into everyone's sweetspot that leaves you singing praises instead of admonishing them.

We wanted the new tooltips months/year or so ago, this is the starting point. Riot has to change the entirety of the way they do the tooltips because they were, until know, being done manually for each champion. Aatrox's tooltips is the new format/tool to help them script it out in few easy steps (without the need to translate everything again on multiple languages) and doing so manually for 700+ abilities in the game.

For the moment, it's only Aatrox who has them so that Riot can take these tooltip tests/feedback and further iterate when they start implementing it in future patch batches. So it's not really something that you should be screaming about that it's hurting your eyes or dumbing you down, considering that it's only available in less than 1% of the actual tooltips.

Its as easy as having a "Simplified tooltips" option in settings and having it checked on by default. more experienced players would uncheck that box in the options menu and newer players would not even know it exist. but having this hold shift for an actual tooltip with clarity is just bad and it does not take much thought to see that. There were so many more elegant ways they could have implemented this change but what they did was not one of them.

It's funny. From the enemies POV its looks like your moving SUPER SMOOTH but from your POV it FEELS like this: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/qfd5V-6qcLg/maxresdefault.jpg

I figured out a part of the problem. Since E is an aimed cast, it only goes off when you release the keybind for it, meaning there's going to be that much delay from when you intend to use it. Easy solution would be to make it an instant cast since it's such a short dash who's distance can't be altered.

There's another more spaghetti-code issue with it though where it seems right clicking sometime between the Q and E clicks makes the ability not come out no matter what until the current Q has finished.

Fix your game riot.
