A simple way to improve Garen and make him more juggernaut-y

Give him an attack speed steroid after using E. When Garen lands X amount of spins, he gains Y% attack speed for a few seconds.

To solidify Garen's 'identity' as a scaling juggernaut since the update tried to shuffle him into mid-late game power, we'll set the baseline number at 4, going up by 1 for every 2 spins Garen gains (e.g 5 ticks needed when Garen has 6, 6 when you have 8, 7 when you have 10). Has counterplay because Garen needs to land most of his spin to get the steroid off, and the reward is a better way to fight extended duels - which is what a Juggernaut is supposed to be good at. Also helps to open up itemization paths that he used to have - namely AD or crit builds, now that he has stronger synergy with the stats, as well as gives him more options for rune paths which he currently lacks in season 8. An attack speed steroid would be much more appreciable and rewarding in terms of 'feel' than the current armor shred debuff on E, which has no VFX or SFX associated with it to let you know you've even gotten it.

my thoughts are that garen needs deeper changes, a big rework

but rubik what about d noobies if we give garen a skillshot he'd be literally as hard as azir :q

this is a decent band-aid change and improves combat pattern a lot. b/c garen could now fight other melees and not get laugh BM'd by fiora or riven or darius even if he plays well because he has nothing when his spells are on CD. also means that Garen can be a real threat to tanks by DPSing them down which is a big problem he has atm as a juggernaut.

garen cannot be given DPS right now, he bursts too much with Q and E his kit cannot be easily weilded around

And it's not only about skillshots, it's about garen's kit receiving a meaningful reason to be picked you know one of my idea is to give him armor+ms instead of damage reduction on his W for him and his entire team, that change for instance would make people wanting to pick garen to dive into physical damage OR peel his team from physical damage

those are just numbers that can be adjusted around him being a champion after he blows his cooldowns

Garen needs a small power boost like the one they gave voli. They gave voli a small-moderate Q and E buff and now he is playable again. At first it was a little too strong and put him into the LCS but he is in a reasonable place after they nerfed him a bit

Garen doesn't need any of these things, barring some small changes:

-Q animation scales with attack speed (Riot gave this buff to Trundle because Chomp became a DPS loss for him in the mid-late game) -Passive cooldown is now 6 seconds starting at level 6 (previously level 11) - Spreads out Garen's power spike but gives him actual sustain for at least part of his laning phase

Garen could use a bunch of quality of life changes, but the only real issue I have as him right now is getting to where I need to be. Kiting is too strong (not even CC kite, sometimes just MS), and everyone who has kite in their kits can use it just as effectively to run him down.

I don't think this can really be solved for Garen without a large rework, unless we remove him from the Juggernaut class. Boost his speed and drop him into the Diver class where he can be balanced to match Camille and Kled, rather than Darius and Illaoi.
