Gold 3 Player In Silver 3 Match?

Best Ekko NA··1 votes·1,025 views

Explain this Riot? How am I laning against this guy right now?

Your system made a pretty massive matchmaking blunder.

Silver III match.

One team with a duo bot of two Silver 3's and a Gold 3 Mid lane. The other team has... 5 low Silver players (none duo'ing)????

What part of this makes any fucking sense?

Matchmaking uses MMR, not rank to place players. It's very possible for a gold 3 and silver 3 to have similar MMR at a point in time.

No, his MMR is Gold 1 and he's duo with a Silver 3 player.

The system didn't even attempt to balance our teams, we didn't have a single player on our team with rank or MMR above Silver 3. He solo carried the match, penta killed our entire team.

Correction: He wasn't duo'ing with anyone. He somehow got into our match as a Gold 3 player without duo'ing with ANYONE. Their team had a duo bot lane and a Gold 3 player against a team of 5 random Silver 3 players. We didn't have a duo to match their duo, nor did we have anyone remotely close to his MMR on our team.

You don't know anyone's MMR so you can't know that.

If he was duo it might make a perfect balance impossible, but then your MMR losses would be reduced. It might also be that he's a solid player on a losing streak that finally caught a break with a matchup he could handle or just happened to have the game of his life.

Umm there are many websites that get pretty close to knowing what a players MMR is. Sure, none of them are perfect but I'm pretty sure when he has a 54% win rate in Gold 3, and he's not on a losing streak, that his MMR isn't Silver 3.

He also was not duo. They had a duo of a Silver 4 ADC and a Silver 3 Support player in Bottom lane. Our team didn't have anyone duo'ing. That's also another huge advantage that their team had over ours.

They are still VERY subjective. I track about 300 players on op.gg ranging from bronze 5 to plat 2 and I've seen a players MMR change by 100 points over 5 days without playing a single ranked match....and the difference in op.gg between the top silver 3 and the bottom gold 3 is......82 points.

The matchmaker will never be perfect. There are way too many unknowns that can't be predicted. I had a silver 2 in a match over the weekend when I'm bronze 5 0 LP. It happens, but the vast majority of games have realistic matchups. Almost all my games are bronze 5 on both sides with an occasional bronze 4. Sometimes someone dominates and sometimes someone feeds.

He's duoing with a Silver 5 jungler.

You might be right, didn't see that. That makes it even worse in that case.

So, their team has two duo's, and a Gold 3 player.... against a team of 5 random silver 3's?

Perfect balance.

It's okay. Since it's clear Riot is trying to see if I'm Faker's Silver smurf, I'll bust out my inner Challenger and solo carry so I can spit in Riot's face and laugh at them.

He was indeed duoing with the jungler, which does mean they had two dous... Strange but appears to be able to happen.

And those sites that tell mmr are using their own algorithms but only riot knows the true mmr, so you shouldnt always trust what they tell you.
