And there are many more mages who abuse this item

its soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much fun to play against If you dont have blinks or dashes ur pretty much fucked

its something i haven't complained about and i havent seen much complaining about it on the boards either but lets get real playing a melee champion into these permaslowing mages is pure cancer

it so antifun having to play with a 40% movement penalty on a champion who is already disadvantages because of being melee

Any melee champion without mobility is pretty much unviable because of this item

Now dealing with one of these mages is BARELY manageable playing vs 2 or more buying this retarded item as an immobile melee champion is undoable.

To be honest its somewhat neccesary item to deal with the heaps of mobile champions and those with an abundance of mobility in their buildpaths and certain champions like vladimir and mordekaiser rely on the item to even function, which imho is really abysmal kit design honestly just fire that guy already!

But man does this item feel like pure cancer sometimes

And lets be honest here its dps champiosn who are abusing it, its not like these same champions are the ones abusing magicpen aswell but thats probably best saved for another topic.

Just wanted to rant about that tumor of an item rylais

Just wish it would give diminishing slows on every subsequent one or had a cooldown on it or something to make it less of a big fat fuck you to melee champions

the item is a serious problem. the only ones who are not building it are some burst mages.

Ugh azir soldiers dont proc the full 40% Brands q an e do proc the full % but that falls off fast anyways Zyra doesnt really proc the full either and neither does malz

Soldier and plant autos are treated as AoE effects and proc the 40% strength, 1 second duration slow of Rylai's.

They do, but they also apply spell effects which overrides their minion interaction with Rylai's. For comparison:

Elise Spiderlings are summoned minions but they don't apply spell effects - they don't apply Luden's or Liandry's and only apply a 20% Rylai's slow Zyra Plants and Azir Soldiers are summoned minions that apply spell effects - they apply Luden's and Liandry's, plus they apply a 40% Rylai's slow which overrides their 20% Rylai's slow

This is wrong. Since they're summoned minions, they proc the 1 second, 20% 'summoned minions' slow, like Tibbers does. The wiki page is wrong about this; it's a template that wasn't updated when Rylai's got changed.

They count as AoE even though you'd think they count as minions. I know what the general rules are for summoned minions and DoTs, but this is an exception.

Source? Nowhere I've looked has had conclusive information either way. The wiki seems to imply the 40% aoe slow, but I think that applies to the abilities rather than the plants that grow after.

Test it, or look up any video with Zyra and Rylai's. You'll see a 40% slow.

The wiki specifically says that they count as AoE and apply the 40% slow.

Other fun facts: Morgana pool counts as an AoE and not a DoT while Cass's miasma counts as a DoT despite dealing damage in the exact same fashion. Swain Q counts as single target despite its ability to both switch targets and apply damage over time

The wiki says miasma counts as an aoe though. Besides, it already slows by at least 40% anyways.

The slow decays over the duration and there is a point where rylai's would take over, plus the duration after they leave miasma, but how I actually tested it was with deathfire touch, it only procs the one second DFT instead of 2 seconds (pool procs 2 second although Morgana still generally takes Thunderlord's)

The wiki says nothing about the plants, it only has information specific to the ability itself, hence the confusion.

Swains Q used to be single target before his rework, so I can understand it not being updated yet.

Mal's Dot and voidlings both apply the 20% slow, his gate is easy to dodge, and his ulti, well, it doesn't really matter if you're slowed during it.

There's some contention about zyra/azir minions applying the 40% or the 20%, it's not clear.

I'm surprised you didn't add Sol, Rumble, Cass, Eve, Karthus, Fiddle, Heimer, Swain or just about any other AOE mage to your rant
