I'm thoroughly convinced ADC is an unrewarding role
Seriously. It doesn't matter if you're superior to the enemy carry in terms of your ability to outfarm, poke, position, when you can still get deleted in 1 rotation by literally any other class in the game these days in combination with cc + burst + mobility. Ffs an assassin easily deals 1000+ damage on me with their normal spells alone. My ability to auto attack someone for damage at 550 range doesn't mean much unless you're fed a massive lead by your allies, and even then you have to continue depending on others to keep you safe. You want to continue farming but your support may want to roam, so you either pause from farming and abusing your lead until they get back or risk pushing a lane solo which is the easiest way to get killed. Either way, you can't fully capitalize on your advantage unless your team's vision score is on par and are playing around you. Sure, this is done well in professional play, obviously. It's a nightmare in solo queue or with randoms in general. I've been seeing more off-meta picks replacing marksmen these days and I'm not surprised. You can be 4/0 and still blow up to the 1/3 Zed with a few buttons even though you have a full item on them. Absurd.
I'm all for damage reductions on this class among others. The game overall is WAY too snowbally. But making marksmen utterly powerless without a large advantage isn't the answer either. Would be nice to receive some health/armor/resistance stat growth buffs as well. After all even late game, bruisers/juggernauts/tanks can still run over an ADC with like 1.5 damage items and a ton of health on them.
In all honesty, fuck this role. It's a lot easier and more rewarding to play god damn Yasuo, Swain, or almost any mage bot lane since you not only provide your own cc but also scale much faster in itemization. Makes more sense to just worry about killing off the enemy early and then take objectives uncontested. Objectives, that's the one thing marksmen are superior at, but it doesn't matter much considering how easy it is to take them. Almost anyone can solo dragons with ease, even the Rift Heralds, and for some even Baron. Towers melt like butter after 14 minutes to auto attacks from anyone else building damage, especially to assassins. It's not worth learning the mechanics and worrying about positioning every waking moment when so many other variables affect what actions you can perform in the first place without dying vs other classes who can initiate their own battles and command the game.
are in the game, they dive into 5 people, kill the adc in less than 1 second and then stay alive through items or abilities. It's bullshit. And would gladly trade the damage to survivability. But this does not apply to all adc, the meta's ADC like
is a same level of absurd as the assassins mentioned above.
