@riot Balancing Malz doesn't seem that difficult

Yet you guys seem to refuse to actually touch his mechanics. You can make number changes until your blue in the face, but look at the changes to his passive on the PBE. If you make it .25, it's basically a non-factor. It's basically a weaker built in item 3102. If you don't nerf it, then he's too strong. Point is, you need to be capable of making small adjustments to his overall power, instead of large shifts in his overall power, cause by a small adjustment to a single factor.

Solution: Swap his passive and W.

  • Make his voidlings spawn based on number of spells cast & adjust their damage, even if they keep the swarm mechanics (still worse than a few big voidlings imo, because jungle cheese).

  • Make his W into basically fiora W.

With this the malzahar player can now actually outplay the enemy, it's not entirely up to the enemy to outplay the malzahar.

Edit: damn getting a lot of instant negative feedback for this. Here, compare what these changes would allow to what they wanted with the rework. http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/developer-corner/6c2r0VAc-mid-year-mage-updates-malzahar-direction

Honestly I'd rather have a full revert since all I wanted from the MYMU was an update/bug fix for Voidlings and a skin...

I'd be fine with that too, and it's not like the old malzahar was some super influential powerhouse before the update.

Though riot would never openly admit such a big mistake, not to mention, they probably trash the old champion files, under the assumption that they will never revert such a large rework.
