This update is part of the Hextech Revolution storyline.

Here's the latest lore/gameplay update for Factions, in which Zaun picks up Jinx for its list of playable Champions.

Get Jinxed

Factions is a community-powered game mode in which Summoners declare for a faction, such as Demacia or Piltover, and then fight matches against other factions using faction-specific Champion lists. Match outcomes determine how the story progresses.

Am I missing something? I didn't see Freljord at all. Would Freljord be split into the three tribes? I feel like it should, but there aren't enough champions to support it. :\

The Freljord is definitely a faction. However, we rotate through which factions are playable each "chapter" ("storyline"). The Freljord is definitely viable, though: in fact, it won the first storyline, Mirrorwater. We had the three tribes temporarily unite for story purposes. (See Update 4: The Freljord Resolution.)

We limit the number of factions per storyline both to allow for more cohesive storylines (it's hard to write a story with 6 or 7 factions while giving each one appropriate attention) and to help make sure people can organize matches quickly and easily (if people are spread out too much, it's hard to get a match going, because you might not be able to find five people from any two sides).

You might enjoy reading what happened in Part III: Discord.

Spoiler: The Void actually won that arc. (Technically "Discord" — the Void with some SI Champions and Aatrox, because at the time there were only 4 Void Champions and Kassadin, an "anti-Void" Champion.) It turns out that the Void champs lend themselves well to a split-push comp. It lost the final "Battle for Noxus" phase, but just barely.

What do you mean by "haven't joined yet"? If you mean you haven't played a match yet, you should come by the Factions chat sometime and play one. If no games are happening, just follow the instructions on LeagueFactions.net > How To Play > Creating a Match.
