In your client we should have a bar that tells us what our ping is prior to starting a game. Like a little bar next to the play button that displays what our current ping is, I think this would help TREMENDOUSLY so I can stop playing Russian roulette with my games. What do you think of my idea?

Oh yeah, let's make everyone who's logged in constantly ping the game servers, I'm sure that won't overload them or damage stability in any way. Fucking brilliant.
And also being able to change the settings that we do in game, on the home screen.

I thought you were going to say a giraffe champ. Knowing your connection quality outside of matches is a nice alternative.
You might give LoL Summoner Info a try. It has rather accurate ping estimates, not to mention a boatload of other handy features.
Or you can just press play and select the mode, and if u notice a delay when it says retrieving data from the server (the loading bars) then you're lagging. Take your normal ping, and add ~80 ping for each extra .5 seconds. My internet is shit, so if someone else loads videos my ping spikes alot and I notice this little pattern
Since you only get onto the "game hosting"-server once the game started... i guess it will do just NO help... "Yay my ping is stable on the login/chat server oh, the game hosting server stands on the moon, my ping dropped over 9000 :("
if you get lsi you can check your ping before you play. heres a link its legit and not banable http://www.leaguelsi.com/ its a great program ive used it for a few months now

Thankfully, my ping is pretty consistent. Sure, I get the occasional spike of 100-110. But most of the time it sits comfortably around the 130-150 mark.
To be entirely honest, if our client was able to support that, we would already have it.
