Welp, I read the first chunk so far. On the one hand, Lux and Ezreal are being shipped, which I hate. On the other hand, Ezreal was being an idiot, which pleases me. ASDFAFSDAFSDFHO

(Don't take this as actual criticism or something, I just really hate Ezreal)

I think they're a vaguely interesting couple because of the Piltover/Demacia thing, but they're also a pretty hateable couple. I feel like that's part of the idea: they're the super-photogenic darlings of Valoran. I found the contrast between them convenient to tell the "ghosts of those you've killed" subplot with the Harrowing, and to show the difference between a cocky League superstar who loves to show off on the big stage and someone like Lux, who was smashed into shape by Demacian society and still bears the scars from it.

TBH, the whole plot thread in Factions started because a friend dared me to write a story where Ezreal's dialogue comes almost entirely from Vengeance by the Protomen, and I decided to be cliche about it and have Lux get shot to set him off. (Whatever, she can stand being fridge'd a little.)

One thing I like about Ezreal as a character is that he's such a conceited jerk, but he's also not a bloodthirsty psychopath. He's often way out of his depth without realizing he's way out of his depth, which is very convenient.

I cut a planned "visit to Shon-Xan" scene from the update in part for time, but also in part because it would have meant another Lux/Ezreal scene, and I don't want to derail this into a Lux/Ezreal fic.

That part... is actually pretty true for me. It feels like most (not all, but yeah) people only ship them because they find it cute.

Ha! That's pretty much why I hate him. I can't stand how cocky he is, especially when all he does in canon is mess around and make maps. At least Draven's ego is so ridiculous as to be funny; Ezreal's attitude just vexes me to no end.

He's often way out of his depth without realizing he's way out of his depth, which is very convenient.

I like where this is going. The thought of a serious situation punching him in the crotch--and giving him a dose of humility in the process--puts spring in my step, though I doubt Ezreal fans would want a dramatic shift like that. (But I know you're talking about the convenience part)

And I thank you for that (I really do). Sorry if I bothered you or derailed too much; the pairing between my favorite character and my most hated pretty much always gets under my skin.

I'll probably read the rest of the update (along with some starting point, haven't read much Factions stuff yet) when I have a larger interval of free time. Maybe I'll have a more, well, relevant comment then.

But Veigar/Lulu OTP, right? (I'm kidding. I'm probably kidding.)

I'd love to hear it! I really appreciate your comments so far, and I know that a lot of Factions lore is due for some serious revision; much of it was banged out very quickly. (Actually, that was part of why I liked it. I'd been stressing and stressing about "serious" writing for a long time, and not making any progress, in part because I was putting myself under a lot of pressure to write some masterpiece. With Factions, I took a much more "eh, whatever, it's just a throwaway story" approach, and that made it so much easier to write.)

Thanks for the heads-up. Wow, I can't believe this thread was seven months ago.
