Silent movement through the shadows. Not even the most trained of eyes can see it. A blur, a small flash that moves quickly through the darkness. The moonlight glistens off of the pure silver bolts strapped to her back. A single target in mind, an abomination that has infiltrated the ranks of the Demacian Army and is draining them one by one under the cover of night. She knows the location of the creature, thanks to the cowering mass that was once a scared Demacian foot soldier. She slinks quietly between the shadows cast by the light of the full moon. At the outskirts of the city, she hears the muffled cries of a man. One of terror obviously, she had enough experience with those very same cries from interrogations. She jumped up unto a rooftop, and moves along the shingles without making a sound, until she sees the monster of darkness. It stands around eight feet tall, but is hunched over with a mound of flesh for a back. It's skin is a dark grey, and the eyes are dark red. It has such a small head, but teeth that could make even the most courageous of men brown their pants. I've seen better, she thinks to herself. She lowers into the alley, and sneaks up behind the creature. It grins and cackles wildly at the man it has inside of the enormous talons that decorate each hand. It lifts him high into the air and whispers in a voice that sounds like air escaping from a locked bottle. "Shhhhhh my friend. All will be silent soon enough." It laughs again, and begins gnashing its teeth together in an obvious showing of hunger. The woman readies her crossbow mounted to her wrist. She loads a bolt of pure silver to the pulled back wiring, and aims it at the back of the monster. Two quick shots in the back, then as it turns, launch a third one into the head. If it still lives, run out and knock it off its feet. Aim a final bolt between its eyes and silence it. Nothing she hadn't done before. She prepares to fire the first bolt, when the audible clicks and clanks of armor can be heard approaching. A lone figure stands above the monster on a stone wall. He shines... but only the moon is casting light. How can he shine? His armor is bright white, and a red cross is plastered across his chest. He carries a shield painted with an identical cross, and has a sword that has an aura of white around it. He wears a helmet that does not show his eyes. He looks at the creature, and speaks. "Creature of darkness, prepare to feel the wrath of the Sir Nicholaus Arthur, leader of the Holy Knights and defender of all things sacred. Your day of reckoning is upon you." The monster laughs before biting the man in the shoulder. He screams in pain, before the monster lets go, and shrieks its own cry of pain. A small dagger is sticking out of the top of its head. It glares at the knight before throwing the injured man to the side as if he had no weight to him. "I guess I will have to work for my meal this time. No matter, I enjoy a good challenge." it hisses out at the knight. He jumps down to the pavement and lifts his shield in a show of challenge. The creature moves in a blur that is too fast to see. It strikes the knights in the chest before reeling back as if struck. The creature's arm... it's arm is sizzling? It continues to screech at the burning arm, before the knight buries his sword in the creatures side. Black liquid spills from the wound before the monster retaliates. It rears up to strike with both hands, but only feels the dull thud of hitting the metal of a shield. It hisses back in anger, and turn to flee. It climbs a wall and gets up to a roof. It turns to say something, before the ground rumbles. The creature turns to see a flash of pure white light heading like lightning towards it. It has naught a moment to shriek before the light hits it, and it tumbles to the floor with a loud bang. It tries to get up, before feeling cold steel on it's chest. It gazes up and sees the knight standing overhead. "Now monster, feel the wrath of the Lord." He buries the sword into the monster's head, and pulls it out without a single drop of blood on it. He says to himself, "Another monster cleansed. How many more? Bah, it does not matter. My quest is eternal until this land is cleansed of all the evil." The woman has not felt surprise ever since her father died. She had seen many a monster hunter, but none seemed to fight with such... brute strength. She begins to leave, until the knights speaks. "Halt! Who goes there? Reveal yourself." The woman walks out of the shadows, crossbow drawn back to the full length. "My name is Vayne, and you just took my kill." She feels the knight's eyes piercing her through his closed helmet. He speaks to her. "Are you another creature of darkness? Come to test my mettle, as many have before? Well draw your weapon then, you vile scourge." Vayne does not change her stance, and remains alert internally. Instead of addressing his question correctly, she instead asks her own. "I didn't know the Solari had those who hunt those who have fallen to darkness." The knight changes his stance and asks, "Solari? Who? Do they worship the sun?" He obviously isn't anything to worry myself with. Vayne turns and begins to leave, before she hears a whistle and dodges out of the way. A dagger lands where she was once walking. She drawn her crossbow at one, instead choosing to use normal bolts instead of those of pure silver. She fires a few volleys at the knight while moving in a quick circle to disorient him. He blocks all of her shots with his shield, before she dashes behind him. She flies forward, meaning to put a well placed kick at the back of his leg. Before she gets there, he whirls around and smacks her with his shield. Gah, why did I let him get a free shot on me? Vayne gets back on her feet just in time to see the knight charging her. She quickly jumps out of the way as his sword crashes down on where she was sitting. His sword cleaves even the stone walls that stood guard for countless years. This is no ordinary man. She draws her silver bolts back, before unleashing a quick torrent of shots. He knight is faster than he looks, and blocks the shots with his shield. This is no ordinary man, these bolts can pierce the strongest of armors. She was going to have to pull out the big guns. She pulls the giant crossbow mounted on her back, only for emergencies, and loads an enormous silver bolt into it. She rolls into invisibility before firing at the knight's back. He turns just in time to be nailed in the chest. She then fires two more, just for good measure. The knight falls to one knee, before collapsing. Vayne turns and walks away. I'll have to investigate where these creatures are coming from. More than usual. She begins to walk away before she hears groans. The knight now stands up, with three pure silver bolts stuck into his torso. She stands back, awestruck for just a second, before drawing her crossbow again. She prepares to fire before he shouts with a force that knocks her on her back. He shouts, "You dare fight me? You are nothing compared to the almighty power of the Lord. Prepare to feel His divine WRATH!" The moon disappears behind a large influx of clouds, yet all remains light. He shouts again, "Almighty Lord, savior of the land, let these creatures of darkness be cleansed in thy holy FIRE!" In an instant, a searing flash of light explodes, destroying buildings and walls all around. The knight touches down on the floor again, and looks around. He spots a broken pair of goggles and a shattered crossbow. But something is amiss. "I know you are not gone," he speaks, "I will find you again, and when I do, you shall feel holy fire." He grabs his dropped sword and leaves without a word. The Demacian authorities arrive, and gaze in terror at the destruction. The lone man who everything started at, is gaping in wonder and fear. His wound is gone, but his hair and skin is bleached white. He whispers to the men who come near. "Nicholaus... Arthur..." Vayne peeks back over the corner, before disappearing off into the night. Well, she thinks, looks like I've got some competition.

Holy FUCK that took a long time. Please tell me what you all think. And before you ask, yes, this is just shameless self advertising for a champion design I made. If you would, could you please look at it and tell me what you think. I made Nicholaus special, and even though he isn't that original of a character to you, he's my friend and creation to me. Please take a look. Thanks, and happy reading!
