Remember Riot's Noxus v. Ionia matches? Come join Factions, a community-run game mode they inspired.

Long ago, Riot held a Noxus vs. Ionia match. This was an extension of a plot thread in the lore, in which Noxus invaded Ionia. Each side was given a roster of Champions — at the time, there weren't enough Champions from either side to really field a team, so there was some crazy mix-and-match going on. Summoners were selected, including GuardsmanBob, whose Locket Udyr play eventually won the battle for Ionia.
This victory on the Fields of Justice translated into both an update to LoL's lore — the League ordered Noxus to relinquish the islands it had occupied — and a new in-game item, the Ionian Boots of Lucidity.
Ever wished that Riot would do something like this again?
Or maybe even that someone in the LoL community would set this up in a format that would allow "ordinary" Summoners like you or I to participate?
If so, this might interest you.

Factions is a community-powered game mode inspired by Riot's original Noxus vs. Ionia matches. Anyone can start or join a match anytime; results are submitted online and scored, with the outcomes driving the course of the story. We organize Factions into "chapters" or "storylines", each featuring a different set of factions. (We rotate through to avoid spreading players out too much for matches to be efficiently organized, and to keep storylines thematically cohesive.) So far, we've completed four storylines. We're now on our fifth storyline, Hextech Revolution, in which four factions battle for control over a Void-tainted hextech energy source which could power a technological revolution — or tear open an interdimensional portal and bring forth the horrors of the Void.
