Remember the Noxus vs. Ionia tournament that Riot held way back when? Where the outcome of the match decided the direction of the lore? The reason we have Ionian Boots of Lucidity and Riven's backstory?
Think it'd be cool if Riot would do something like that again, but maybe this time open it up to the general playerbase to participate?
Wonder if just maybe the community could put something like this together ourselves, like we did with ARAM before it became an official mode?

Factions is a community-powered game mode in which Summoners declare for a faction (such as Ionia or Bandle City) for the course of a storyline and fight matches against other factions using faction-specific Champion lists. These limited Champion rosters give each faction distinctive gameplay strengths and weaknesses and open up some interesting non-meta strategies. Anyone can start or join a match anytime as a custom game; results are submitted to us online for scoring. Factions gain points from victories and lose points from defeats. These match outcomes in turn determine how the story develops.
The current storyline, Shon-Xan, is a clash between Noxus and Ionia. It will be concluding on March 24.
