This is something I think should happen when Jax gets his visual upgrade with Warwick in April 2015 (there's a reason for that date). Please keep all criticism constructive.

Friends: Gragas, Orianna

Rivals: Fiora, Warwick

Lore

It is seldom the case where a champion is defined by his actions after joining the League of Legends rather than before. Such is the case with Jax, for whom the argument could be made that he is the most prolific tournament fighter currently at the Institute of War. Before joining the League, Jax was an unremarkable soldier-for-hire. For reasons known only to the former leader of the League, High Councilor Reginald Ashram, Jax was put on the top of the list of candidates to receive a League Judgment - the interview process that either accepts or rejects a prospective champion. His Judgment was the quickest in League history, where the Doors of Acceptance glowed and slowly swung open as soon as it began. Jax faced no recorded Observation or Reflection during his Judgment.

Jax proved himself to be an immediate terror in the Fields of Justice. The self-proclaimed Armsmaster of the League rattled off a streak of consecutive wins that to this day has not been matched. A number of summoners in the League grew concerned that the perceived objectivity of the League of Legends would be questioned by the presence of an unknown fighter who was unbeatable. For this reason, the new leader of the League (following Reginald Ashram's disappearance), High Councilor Heyward Relivash, created special restrictions for Jax to fight under. This was something the League had never done before, and something that has never been done since. The burly fighter responded by imposing his own special conditions; as a means of protest, he permitted himself to fight using only a brass lamppost, a chicken’s foot, a spatula, a cardboard tube, and a fishing rod. Neither the League's sanctions nor his own had affected his winning ways.

Jax's winstreak was promptly broken when he heard news of a young girl Orianna who died training to become a champion in the league. As one of the League's most famous champions, he felt guilty of his influence leading to one of his fans' deaths. This mental burden finally ate away at the larger than life champion, and his impressive winstreak was met by an equally lengthy losing streak. Far from being the top pick amongst summoners, and feeling as though he had done more harm than good in the Institute of War, Jax swore to never fight as a champion in the League ever again, and drowned his sorrows in booze with his drinking buddy Gragas.

It was assumed that Jax would never fight again, until news of another one of Jax's former fans' deaths. This time, it was a sea cow by the name of Urf, who idolized Jax and trained to be as prolific of a fighter as him. His end, however, was met not by a tragic accident, but a murder by a bloodthirsty werewolf Warwick, who happened to be a champion in the League of Legends. In the memorial ceremony of the brave manatee, Jax kicked off the celebration by declaring he had nothing but admiration for the manatee, being the only warrior in Valoran besides himself that limited his power according to the League's sanctions. Jax then proudly announced that he would once again fight as a champion in the League of Legends, being the only champion in the League's history that has had two League Judgments. Anxious fans swarmed around the Institute of War, to view their idol's second judgment. Jax's second judgement was the longest in League history, taking an entire day. Being bombarded with his doubts over whether he could live up to his fame, and live with the guilt of Orianna's and Urf's deaths, Jax endured seemingly endless torture, a voice of relief boomed from the visage of the former High Counselor of the League, Reginald Ashram.

"Why do you want to rejoin the League, Jax?”

"To reclaim my glory, to give my friends retribution, and to give hope to all those who look up to me as the best champion the League has to offer!"

Reginald's image dissipated, and High Councilor Vessaria Kolminye took his place.

"Welcome back to the League, Grandmaster at Arms!"

The doors swung open to the sound of roars and applause. Jax's adoring fans stood waiting for him to do what he did best; be the champion of champions in the League of Legends.

"Here's to you, kid." - Jax announcing his reinstatement to the League at Urf's memorial service.

New Taunt

Warwick: "Preying on my fans? You definitely want a piece of the champ."

I actually sorta like it. Elements of it anyway. I don't really like bringing Urf up seriously in peoples lore, but I do sorta like him going on hiatus then coming back. He needs Wukong as a rival though.

Anyone whos whole driving motivation is to become a better fighter would be a rival to Jax. (like fiora or kong.)
