Just watched ROX v SKT and wondering why you wouldn't build tank. Why is everyone saying the tank meta isn't real? ROX can't do a thing despite all their armor pen. Seems like being able to tank/sustain still gives you enough time to deal damage and mow everyone over.

The opinions that you see are probably just from the boards. The boards are extremely biased about certain topics. People do complain about the damage, just not on the boards because of the hate train that they get for speaking out against it.
Poppy is just way OP right now. Even with 5 members dog-piling her, all it takes is one Orianna shield and suddenly all your items just don't matter. Not to mention she can just disengage you with ease. Tank is definitely what wins the late game.

Its called Orianna shield, its big (faker had 5-6 items) and has really low cdr when maxed. Rip ROX, the hope is dead, at least I wont have to stay up when the finals come and get bored, but then again it will be over in 3 hours...
It's called organized game. These guys are a trained team with perfect follow ups and coordination, along with proper use of their peeling and sustain tools. You dont get that in soloq. Besides, i remember a certain Jayce top and Varus mid comp not too long ago that just poked everything for a couple of minutes from a distance and then eviscerated everything with a single engage.
