TSM Has 3 Imports

IncrediPhiLL··3 votes·4,979 views

With the addition of Sven and Mithy, TSM now has 3 imported players (Svenskeren is leaving, so It wont be 4) on the roster. I’m not sure if the rules have changed after the whole franchising thing, but doesn’t this mean they are going to have to bench Bjerg?

I heard somewhere that Bjerg no longer counts as an import, but that doesn’t make sense to me... considering the likes of Impact, Piglett, and even Jensen still count as “foreign imports” even though they have been in the NALCS for years. Reignover comes to mind as well...

If TSM gets to have a majority imported team, then that defeats the purpose of... I don’t know... “NA” LCS... Might as well change their name from TSM to LMQ2.

I'm pretty sure Bjergsen is considered an NA resident and doesn't take up an import slot.

Bjergsen doesn't take up an import slot due to the grandfather rule, which allowed an imported player to not take up an import slot after 2 years. Which is why the spring 2016 TSM roster had Bjerg, Sveskeren, & Yellowstar.

In mid 2016 the rule was changed from 2 to 4 years so players like Impact, Jensen, & Piglet who've been in NA since 2015 have to wait till next year.

Besides, isn't it getting close to the amount of time needed for Bjerg to become a U.S. citizen if he wanted to (I wouldn't blame him if he doesn't, though)?

I think he could right now if he wanted to, but he seems to enjoy living in Denmark so I'm not sure he will.

Just watch them change the time it takes to six years

They'll also refer to it as the "Deficio rule", to try and sway as much suspicion off bjerg as possible.

The rule change was mostly about the mass exodus of korean players to China. It had little to do with NA and literally nothing to do with bjerg as he was already a resident by the time the rule change happened.

Before the rule change happened you could have had samsung white reform as an all chinese team which is what forced riot to act. Most of the korean pros have returned to korea so it's unlikely they're going to change it again.

Honestly It doesn't need to change. Most esports careers don't even last 4 years.

Somewhere around 4-5 years to be resident

Who cares about Pro teams for League?

What Lino said is correct from my understanding, especially with the Bjergsen situation. While the whole more imports aren't really "NA" we also have to look at North America"U.S.A" really and see which parts of the graph of the population are immigrants, Asians, Mexicans, Americans, blacks, whites etc. Riot extended the clause from 2 to 4 years, and if players want to come to NA mainly for $ and most likely an easier path to Worlds, let them.

It is a joke. Such a shame. Both for NA losing any credibility and for EU getting robbed
