G2 was ready and TL clearly wasn’t. Wish it could have been a 5 game series.
Really enjoying the post game interviews. G2 has some of my favorite players. Classy guys who are having fun. They always seems to be just chilling and doing what they love.

GL in worlds, i hope we get a rematch, EU vs NA.

Yeah I completely agree with you there. It felt like a classic case of "when things get tough let's give up". You'd think that with an extra day to prepare that TL (who I never expected to win) would at least put up more of a fight and not just get steamrolled like they did. As usual NA chokes when it matters most.

The difference is that IG were super predictable with a static gameplay and static picks that would take a every fight even if that killed them and TL definitely ABUSED them showing how easy they were to beat when faced again a good team ready for them.
G2 are a crazy team, unpredictable and with more picks that you can hardly counter pick those guys.
Eleshakai1 votesI don't know that that explains it entirely. Like... the laning phase was nothing crazy, yet TL was frequently getting early deaths to very predictable plays.
Yes, mid-late game, G2's unpredictability is certainly an edge they can exploit... but early game, the deficits liquid got themselves into felt like they were things they wouldn't have gotten themselves into when playing IG.
And G2 didn't even really bring out much in the way of spice during the drafts, except the Pyke.,, which they'd already done a few times so it wasn't exactly 'new'.

I think both IG and TL didn't show up like they should in their respective final matches. IG got super cocky I think as groups were smooth sailing.
IG is better than G2 and TL, G2 players even admit to that. If it was Bo20 games you bet IG would win vs anyone, but now everything is open for worlds because LPL teams are gonna expose IG even more.
P.S. Was it actually Tencent masterplan telling IG to lose so more westerners watch/play lol cause of the hype? (obv sarcasm)

IG had a lot of weak early games, a lot of games that they NEARLY lost, and a lot of games that showed weakness in groups. IG may have underperformed slightly more in the semis, but not nearly the same extent that TL did from semi to finals.
But ya, I agree IG at their best is better than either of them. But I don't think we saw a single game of IG at their best except MAYBE the 16 minute SKT game(although it's hard to argue that as a justification of either team's strength after that level 1...)

GeminiRune2 votesI was hoping for 4 games honestly but definitely held my expectations tame. MSI this year was a story of styles throughout. While there is a blemish cause this was a stomp, it shouldn't discredit that the tournament was enjoyable...and that most of us were freaking wrong in our tournament predictions. No regrets!

Jensen and CoreJJ were 2 big factors and you bet TL will be stronger for worlds. TL have represented NA the best any fan in their wildest dream would have hoped. If someone told NA fans before MSI that they would beat IG and get final, they would be overjoyed. Losing your first international final can come down to many things, maybe the nerves got to them. EU last year got to World finals and NA to world semi, now they both make semi in MSI, if it was FW instead of G2 that won the tournament no NA fan would feel bittersweet.
