North America / Europe isn't bad at video games
It's just that LoL is infested with "brand-name" teams in these regions that only even care about high-level play because it exposes their brand to an audience.

It's really just that Korea has really taken a liking to League. Apparently somewhere near 11% or their population plays it and everyone at the top plays it for 18 or more hours a day. It's really just hard to compete with how much time SKT and the other teams put in...
There is a reason a bunch of Korean players left last year to go to other regions. It was because the hours were crazy.
