Anyone find Worlds 2017 lacking?

I will admit Worlds 2016 was the first worlds I actually watch most of besides just a couple random games. But last year I was extremely into worlds especially the first 2 weeks. There were so many upsets, so many cool stories. Game play was fast paced and fun to watch especially in group stage.

So before World's 2017 start I was so excited! I even took work off Thursday since I planned to get up and watch the games in the morning. I think part of it is definitely the time zone difference with worlds being in China this year instead of NA. But even with the large time change I still find this years worlds boring compared to last year. And NA is even doing really well through week 1.....

Day 1 was ok with it being the first day of worlds. By far my favorite game of the tournament so far was FNC vs GAM. I was literally laughing out loud with the craziness of that game. And yea.. .there have been some other upsets and great moments. LIke SKT being down 10k gold to EDG and that sick 5 man ace by SKT to instantly bring the game back and win. Yea that was great. But like.... after day 2 of worlds I pretty much lost all energy to even watch most games. I watched the NA games but even found myself skipping ahead in some of those as well. And a lot of the games the last 2 days I skip 15-20 mins into and literally miss nothing..... like first kill happen right around then.

Ardent censor bot meta makes me want to puke. Sucks having to watch that rest of the tournament.

People complain about always seeing LeeSin and Elise but I would much rather watch pros play them in games than Sejuani Gragas every game.

Top mostly Chogath Maokai but at least we have seen some interesting changes.

Pretty much just happy to watch NA games at this point and GAM. NA because NA fan and GAM because at least something interesting might happen early in their games.

All these posts about problems with season 7 are correct. And ironically... with all these changes made by Riot to make LCS games more exciting... the literal opposite happened while simultaneously making solo queue games in season 7 more boring.

So happy season 7 almost over. Already kind of tired of worlds 2017 and hope 2018 will be more exciting. Only saving grace now is maybe NA teams will make it out of groups and 1 will not play a Korean team in quarters.... which lets face it based on history more than even 1 NA team getting out of groups is low chance and even if they do most likely have to play Korean team, which once again Korean teams look amazing. Yea SSG has had some struggles but no doubt they will only get better as the tournament goes on just like the rest of the Korean teams. Maybe NA will learn from week 1 this year and not shit the bed in week 2? Only time will tell.

I think season 4 and 5 were worse because over the whole course of the tournament it became clear White and SKT were going to win. This year seems pretty competitive so far.

Honestly i am still quite enjoying it. Some games are too slow and predictable but there has been many interesting games. FNC vs IMT for example kept me at the edge of my seat. The picks have not bee too bad either. Quite a bit of interesting stuff like trundle, nocturne, nasus, ekko. I did not expect to see the last three of these champions at all this worlds. And all of these have been so refreshing to see. It gives me the feeling that there is more surprising stuff that can come out.

However the item 3504 cancer is just so bad. I do not remember bot lane ever being so stale as it is now. item 3070

The trouble this year is that two whole classes of characters are unviable and another is barely viable.

Since NA is actually looking the most respectable I've ever seen them look, I am more into this worlds than any other and I've watched since s3.

We'll see more off picks and off the wall strats once the groups stage is over because right now when things are best of 1 and every game counts they'll all play the best meta. They'll be saving their ace in the hole for a specific match for a specific team when they can change things up in best of 5s

Group stages just aren't fun most of the time. Most of the groups are easy to read, so it won't be until the final 8 KO that is it interesting.

Although some groups are competitive like GroupD.

Only thing sucking this year is the games starting at 2am. It's a bit of an adventure trying to watch the games without getting hit by spoilers.

Personally, I found the Play-In more exciting. In general, I don't think it's all that lacking in a sense. Less risky picks taken and fights that flip the game on a whim; those are reasons that do sort of irk me.

Imagine if each game that had a comeback scenario off of a single teamfight hadn't happened. We'd have the likes of SKT or SSG potentially at a 1-2 record. TSM could be 0-3. IMT could top the standings of Group B! And that's just one of those irks.
