Lessons from My Brother

So I introduced my little brother to League of Legends this week by watching a little bit of MSI. After enduring another boring SKT romp showing off all 15 champs in the wide wide world of Runeterra (My brother kept commenting on how Lulu, Syndra, and another champ I will be discussing shortly, were always picked or banned.), I noticed what's wrong with the game.

~

There is an exclusive club of champs with too much mobility.

The only class I noticed that seemed to have a significant pool of selected champs was the ADCs. Every other class almost always featured the same two champs trading teams every single game. Karma in every game, just like last season. Every other champ had some form of dash, blink, leap, bounce, or speed boost. While talking about the game, my brother automatically assumed that every champ could go through walls.

And it's a big problem with older champs now. And with the "little" buff Rakan gets when paired with his edgy girlfriend, it's becoming even more imposing upon bot lanes where the champions are traditionally less mobile. Damage isn't the problem, but the ability to inflict damage while also being able to dodge skillshot lockdowns and pursue kills without recourse has gone from flashy to yawn-inducing. It's BAD that I was actually cheering for GAM's Sona pick.

HOLY CRAP if I haven't seen enough Lee Sin to last the rest of my life.

I've finally realized just how overloaded this champion is and why the boards complain about him so much. No, Riot, I'm not impressed by another "clutch" Lee Sin kick. I'm not amazed by another Lee Sin ward hop + Q onto the mid laner. I'm not dazzled by the Lee Sin flash + Q to secure the kill on the low HP top laner. I'm not excited to see Lee Sin dive the ADC and make an "outplay" to hop away from the support's CC and get a double kill onto the teleporting top laner to boot. It's gotten to the point where I'm not sure I believe these pro junglers are actually any good at all, but that Lee Sin is just that much of a statistic boosting character. Every jungler and their mothers have Lee Sin as their "pocket pick" it seems.

Oh, and get rid of his damn ward hop, Riot. You removed it from Katarina, now it's time to phase that out on Lee. (and Jax - but then again, the purple guy hasn't been pick/ban in 99% of your matches)

Heck, give me some Amumu. As an ADC main, I hate that mummy, but even he would be more exciting than freaking Lee Sin in 90% of your pro games.

I know the game is balanced for our sakes and not for the pro scene, but I guarantee this leap in mobility is the reason the wonderful world of League of Legends looks a lot more like Lee Sin's backyard BBQ to my little brother and not a war among 130+ cool (or annoying) characters many of us love or love to hate.

There is farm more wrong with this game. For example Ardent Censer (or as i call it in game Ardent Cancer) is just too broken. If vision wasnt that necesary in pro play everyone would just rush this broken item. It's not only that, but also mobility as you pointed out and ofc damage. Toplane Galio with 3 dorans deals so much damage.
