Thread Lock in eSports?

A few days ago, someone posted a thread called “Nothing new at World for NA” or something like that. I was following the thread pretty closely because there was some nice discussion and banter. A lot of NA v EU discussion as is the usual in these eSports forums.

I noticed today that the thread had been locked... apparently some glorified mod locked the thread due to the “OP not keeping things civil and insults despite being warned” or something like that.

I read through several of the comments and didn’t notice anything unusual or crazy about the discussion that should have caused it to get locked. And even if the discussion was out of line, it wasn’t just the OP who was getting fired up. Made me wonder why the glorified admin came in and publicly slammed the OP in an official shutdown comment while holding no one else accountable... even though there was really no reason to come in and do that anyway.

Has this happened before or is this something new that RIOT is doing on the esports forums? The fact that some person can just come in and shut down any thread that he/she wants is a little wrong to me. Especially when I’ve seen far worse threads in the last week that are still alive and kicking.

I saw that thread and what traffic it gave. Nothing needed to be done about that. Most everything in there was the day of it's creation and it was mild like you said.

Even the back n forth that happened there about 2 hours ago wasn't anything like "braindead NA bronze analyst and mind" material of insults. It feels a tad petty compared to the like the PB board. It's been pretty chill on this board even with the periodic region wars.

Comparing NA to EU is an insult to EU region at this point. Good thing it got locked.

I looked into that thread. The OP decided to continue insulting after a warning on the thread.

This may or may not be the place to post this, but I couldn’t find a better place to post it XD

Discuss the boards is the place to discuss moderation actions, for future reference.

Actually... the admins likely will lock this thread... there's an e-mail address I think to inquire about forum disciplinary actions, as posting about it is, last I checked, technically against the forums CoC.
