Lets not kid ourselves this is one of the worst metas both for solo Q and pro play

I'm glad you asked, it is the fiesta/stomp meta, where basically it is FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT, and the team that outnumbers/spam ganks more often will win fights more often (barring a large skill gap) and then will a gold lead just continue to FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT til your taking baron/tearing down inhib/nexus turrets.

It is the same meta that was present in Worlds of season 8 and is the reason that the VAST majority of the best of 3's in season 8 worlds were 3-0, because it massively inflates the value of champions that can fight at all stages of the game, BUT it also massively emphasizes player skill difference: For example, picking late game champions in this meta is generally a poor idea UNLESS your teams players are simply a higher tier than the opposing team, for example griffin, who has picked kaisa into Kallista/thresh (a well known early game powerhouse botlane) and not only survived but won lane.

Games that are actually CLOSE are nearly a thing of the past, generally one team gets a snowball going and barring a MASSIVE throw they just roll it into a win, having watched about 50 games so far of pro play in season 9, including EU, NA, Korean and Chinese leagues I can say I've only really seen around 3 games that were actually close and had me on the edge of my seat, the main one coming to mind being in the LCK, KT vs GenG game 2, which was actually back and forth neck and neck swung based on teamfights, but most of the games have been pretty awful to watch, one team gets ahead and you just already know whats gonna happen you dont even need to look at the screen.

And SHOCKER its the same in solo Q, however in solo Q its worse because skill desparities are more common and more easily exploited, so it has made solo Q into the team that snowballs a lead off of a mismatched lane (or jungle) better wins.

I've played since late season 6 and this is by far the worst I have seen the state of the game.
