SKT Garunteed A Worlds Slot Again?

Correct me if my understanding is wrong. For LCK, the Summer Split champs are Garunteed a worlds slot. SKT already got knocked out by KT Rolster so that is impossible now. However, the team with the highest Championship Points count lands the second place seed.

Even though SKT is knocked out, they still have their 90 Championship Points from winning the spring split. ROX, the almost definite first place, got 70, and KT Rolster got 50. Assuming that ROX will win(almost definitely) KT Rolster, being second place, will get their 90, since ROX just gets auto qualified and doesn't receive points. SKT, 3rd place, gets 70.

So SKT would have 90 + 70 = 160 and KT Rolster would still only have 90 + 50 = 140. Correct me if I'm wrong, this means even though KR beat SKT, unless they pull off a huge upset over ROX, SKT is going to worlds anyway?

Although I am not sure if the Summer playoffs could give KT any bonus points or something.

If KT beats ROX, then SKT has to go through regional qualifiers to go to Worlds. If ROX wins, then SKT has their Worlds spot due to championship points. It's simple to say ROX has it on lock and therefore SKT has a guaranteed spot, but it was also fairly assumed that SKT would beat KT to make it to the finals so...... anything goes at this point. Either way, the only team who is going to Worlds right now is ROX.

ROX points? And what are you talking about go to the other team? Sunmer split gives auto qualification to first, 90 points to second, and 70 to 3rd, ect. How could KT tie unless they beat ROX? And in that case they would just auto qualify and then ROX and SKT would be tied.

So If KT beat Rox, they will Auto Qualify for World's. Right now SKT has 160 points and ROX tigers are guaranteed to have 160 points even if they lose to KT. As a result SKT and Rox will be tied with championship points and the tiebreaker goes to whoever has the most championship points in the Summer Split. the only team that has worlds locked in is ROX Tigers because they would win the tiebreaker since they have more championship points in the summer Split

Okay so I found a Reddit post that answers this and any other questions:

If ROX win: SKT auto qualifies to worlds based on points. Seeds: 1. ROX 2. SKT 3. Winner of Regional Gaunlet

If KT win: ROX auto qualifies on points, KT as Summer Champions qualifies and SKT has to play there way through Regionals. Seeds: 1. KT 2. ROX 3. Winner of Regionals (most likely SKT)

So even if KT pulls off a huge play, SKT still has a shot at Worlds. Btw if they do SKT will be the first Champions to return to Worlds. I just don't understand why the Champion doesn't get an automatic placement the next year to defend their crown?

Why should the previous World Champion get a bye to Worlds if they can't even show they're within the top 3 teams in their region? Sure they were good last year, but if they were still good, they'd be able to prove themselves again.

They won the Spring season and ended in top 3 in the summer season in a championship that has higher level that Worlds. How is that not proving they are good?

If SKT fails to qualify for Worlds because ROX loses and they lose a Bo5 series in the Regional Qualifiers, then what happened? They obviously aren't as dominant as we'd like to believe if they can't qualify for Worlds in 3 different ways. They forfeited one by losing to KT, so now it's effectively them hoping ROX can win, and if that fails and they can't get through Regionals, then what the fuck? Why didn't they beat KT (which would've secured them the Worlds spot through points)? Why didn't they win Regionals? Obviously they're showing they're weaker than they were last year if they're not even beating regional opponents. Sure, they placed top 3 during the playoffs and in the regular season, so it should be no problem for them to get through to Worlds the same way everyone else does.

Also, if another team was to have won Worlds, and the following year, they dumpster, barely make playoffs, lose first round, can't even make it through Regional Qualifiers, do we really want that team at Worlds? This is what the current system keeps the out, so if a team can't get through the system, then they shouldn't go to Worlds.

Better give no spots to NA teams if they just gonna watch the elimination brackets from home and just put a miserable performance.

Idk it's just an idea from the Champions League in Europe for soccer. Also SKT has had to play multiple international tournaments which can lead to many things: more scouting for other teams, travel times, more games to play, breaks for the other teams, and I'm sure there's more. Now yes I believe you should qualify based on your current roster but there's also a reason no one has ever qualified in repeat seasons.
