retrospective of the Riot NA LCS finals
So I'm here in my hotel room in Oakland, and I'm thinking- "Rito is in a bit of a panic." The upper bowl of seats was empty. The lower bowl was about 3/4 full. What happened?
Please don't misunderstand. I wouldn't have flown 3 hours to watch the finals live if I wasn't a fan. I still am a fan.
Nevertheless, you hired all male streamers, male staff, and male LCS pros to play a showmatch. Granted, yes ... It was fun to watch, and I love imaqtpie (can go to the youtube VOD, read the captions with the volume off, and still know when he's the one who's speaking.) But you still can't let the (mostly cisfemale) cosplayers play an "embarrassingly bronze soloqueue" game onstage? Actually most of the cosplayers I know are in gold and plat so while it's not like watching Challenger players, it's not fricken silver scrapes.
Thank you incredibly much by the way for inviting a Rakan and an Ezreal and an AMAZING Rengar - because we need cosplayers of all shapes and gender identities, not just the skinny pretty ones with boobs.
The little stress balls were awesome! Who got a meep? And how much can I pay you to trade with me?
The lines for food and merch were horrendous. Please! Someone needs to organize the flow of traffic better. You're a world-class org in a world-class venue. Thank god C9 and Liquid knew what was up by giving away good door prizes. Else I'd be sore that I stood in line for 30 minutes for nothing but a bland hot dog.
Security was tight. A belongings check point and two ticket check points. I think we can all be appreciative that nothing like the Jacksonville shooting happened.
So all in all I'm sunburnt and exhausted but it was worth it. Improvements definitely next time around? Have a legit "halftime" show like they do in China and Korea, with cosplay, and as the piece de resistance, Tyler1 can lift for 33 reps onstage.
