At least this year it isn't a practical mirror match. Still pretty boring though
The teams are boring yes but not just in the way that you are saying. Team Fire is a full melee team and team Ice is a very anti-melee team comp that is all ranged. Team FIre had little to no chance of winning.
The common theory is that China has the largest playerbase by far and since the votes weren't weighted by region they picked the best team comp for their team and a team comp that couldn't win for the Korean players.
A lot of low pick rate champs are borring to watch tbh, may be an opinion but I'm sure it's shared by others. What made this boring was how balantly unfair the teams were.

Yup, yet another snooze-a-thon; why don't they try playing the least picked champions?
@OP Guess what? The people voted for the champions they wanted to see played by the pros. The majority rules, and the majority chose these champions. I didn't want to see Alistar, Darius, Fiora, Lee Sin, Braum, Anivia, Ashe, or Graves either, but that's how life works. You don't get what you want.
I wanted to see some more play-makers, but oh well. You think it's unfun, others are ecstatic. Fun is a subjective concept, so would you kindly refrain from forcing your opinion of what is fun upon all of us?
It could have been much more interesting if team fire didn't take two supports bottom... Throw darius bot, braum top lees sin jgl, and fiora mid they would have had a better chance but the dual bot support was a horrible call
I know I wish they picked a off meta support like Brand....
I agree people never take these opportunities to make ridiculous comps.
Well yeah, this is what happens when people vote.
At least we could make sure our conciousness was clear by voting actually entertaining stuff, but there's nothing we can do about the majority vote.
Riot should've just used a lottery ticket about everything; seeing them improvise with absurd picks and situations would've been a blast.
But it's off-meta. I am much more into unconventional lanes than unconventional champions.
We knew this was going to happen, not even surprised imo. But Im puzzled about no yasuo.
