Riot was in desperate need of something to make Pro LOL exiting again! The regional tournaments have become one sided and the international tournaments are a complete disaster. Fans wanted something different, competitive, and exiting... I think RIOT has accomplished that with RIFT RIVALS!

Finally, a tournament that won't let Korea take a dump on the rest of the field. I honestly feel that, for the first time in a LONG time, anything is possible. NA against EU is going to be fun to watch. Haven't been able to say that a lot through the last few splits/tournaments.

Thank you RIOT. You heard the fans and you made a progressive move! I'm aware that it really doesn't mean anything, but it means something to me as someone who has become bored with the predictability of the League.

the best team wins, how is that not competitive? also Korea doesn ''dump'' on everyone can we stop generalising that it is SKT and only SKT the others are good but have all been beaten, SKT is the only true ''super team'' and tis down to kKoma and staff more than his players, there just extensions of his directions and stratergies, not taking anything away form the players they are of course the best in there respective positions but without kKoma's stratergies and staff they wouldnt look like this at all.

i dont like NA vs EU because its not going to improve either region, we need to face the tougher more unique stratergy opponents to push forward, i'd of prefered (this is NA included here) to have a ''west sea grand international'' that includes all the wild card regions at least we'd have variety.

i also want

friendlies vs Korea/China/Thawain in a Bo5 format.
un-official world cup belt ''challenges'' which are riot sanctioned and you get a televised 1 off Bo5.

i just want to be able to practice Vs the BEST region not NA. the same for NA i want them to fight the BEST not EU, even though generally internationally EU does do better.

While things like MSI and Worlds boast that they are a competition, there is nothing competitive about the state of the game right now during international tournaments and even most regional tournaments. If we were racing and I was driving a car, but the rest of the field was riding bikes, that isn't a competition or even a race. It's a formality to move through because the car will, of course, win. I don't speak for any of the players, but only as a fan of the LCS for the past few years, I don't like, enjoy, or find the smallest piece of satisfaction in watching the same teams win over and over again. Sure, there are some great games squeezed into the format that are highly entertaining, but when the end result is always the same, what's the point? That doesn't mean I think RIOT should ban teams or anything. When a team wins, they deserve to win. Nothing they can do about that.

I don't have any problems with SKT. Their players and their coaches are the best. Fine. Sure. But dominance has never been good for any kind of sport. You are the best. We all know this. No one can argue otherwise. And once a year, you can go out and prove your dominance on the world's stage. MSI needs to go. It's a joke, quite honestly. The Players and the fans aren't having fun with it and even the shout casters and analyst sound awfully board during the entire affair.

I like some of your suggestions though. I don't agree that neither region will benefit from playing the other. I love the NA v EU argument and I think the two are on fairly even playing fields. I also don't like the "Neither region will improve" statement. I don't think that's the goal here. The goal is to get people excited to watch international play. RIFT RIVALS is a direct answer the the hate that Riot has gotten over the dull results of splits and international "competitions." It's for the fans, not the players. Isn't that what the LCS is all about? None of these players have jobs if it wasn't for us.

Here are a few suggestions of my own:

Replace MSI with Rift Rivals. Hold the tournaments at the same time between splits.
Shorten the Worlds competition to a smaller scale and finish it off in 2 weeks. Eliminate group stages and simply do a bracket challenge. There is no need for the players or RIOT to drag this out.

I do agree that people need to stop complaining about SKT winning. SKT can go get their trophy at worlds every year and that's fine. They earned it. But RIOT does need to do something to get people excited again and RIFT Rivals is a great step forward.
