  1. it was a counter pick. -mf Q counters zyra plants (free double-up nukes in lane if zyra ever tries to be even slightly aggressive) -no one in SKT had immediate hard cc to interrupt mf ult (i guess u can argue orianna does have immediate hard cc but she still takes a second or two to set up the ult)
  2. synergy with ashe adc. -mf's E was used to setup ashe's ult -ashe's ult in turn was used to setup mf ult -notice how ROX first picked ashe instead of other champs in game 4
  3. And early game pressure -but no one in your elo probably takes advantage of early game pressure unless you are in somewhere around diamond+ with voicechat

TL;DR: for the love of god dont play mf support unless u actually know what you are doing

Edit: im no challenger player, but these were said by LCS analysts and all im doing is summarizing their analysis

yes all of this is true... and people dont understand why team comps and champ picks work in pro play but they will try the champ and think it is viable cuz X pro did it and fail and not understand why....

also part of it is they are PROS the .001% best players and most talented people at this game and its more then getting good at mechanics and knowing the complexity of the game. just like i cant run a 4.4 40yrd dash or throw a football 65 yrs downfield on a rope... i understand all the complexities of football i just dont have the talent to be a pro football player.

As a dia 4 player I must admit that no one over here utilizes this pressure either. I think you need to raise the bar to atleast dia 1 (perhaps even master) OR 5v5 premades.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge MF support as only a counter to Zyra. Maybe she is just good against all of the midrange mages that go bot like annie, brand, anivia, etc.

For example, trundle isn't really a traditional support champion but he does really well against all of the melee supports and he does alright against the peel supports if he gets picked into that matchup.

It could be that MF support is actually good but no one has ever really given it much attention so far. Morgana went largely un-thought of for the longest time and was considered to be a midlane champion until one day people decided she countered botlane meta really well.

That being said I am not looking forward to the wave of MF supports that have no idea what they are doing :\

Unless he is silver in premade groups, I wouldn't necessarily say he's a silver player, either. To get yourself to high ranking tiers, you have to carry your games to win. I get too lazy to go 20-30 kills a game just for a rank. Every. Game.
