Not sure how many others here are fans of the LCK (korean league) but i just wanted to start a discussion about this cinderella story where the magic wore off too soon.

Griffin in the LCK last year and this year has been quite impressive and fun to watch, a team of young promising players trying bold strategies and making waves. The problem is towards the end of the splits, and especially in playoffs they look nothing like they normally do.

What do you guys think about it? My view on it is that they are young, its only the 1st half of their second year in the LCK which for many years analysts have considered the best league in the world, and they are letting the pressure get to them in playoffs.

On a related note, hopefully SKT can stay in good form at MSI and make it an interesting tournament.

It all started in Patch 9.3

That's where the downfall began for Griffin. You could say that the style change and inability to adapt and conquer meta trends in their own unique way led to their ultimate downfall despite still being top cotenders.

You could see it in the finals. Against SKT they played comps to evade playing the standard game which they felt their opponents had the edge. That made them look desperate following game 1. I don't think it makes them bad, but I do think the pressure hit them hard yet again

I think another factor is that SKT has gelled over the split. They started a tad Rocky but began to really click and do well. It was a major roster overhaul going into this split and the stars found ways to work together and are Kings of Korea for now.

During the second series skt had against griffin they tried some new tactics and it kinda proved that a big reason for griffins success is playing through tarzan and teams since have been beating him down and putting a lot of focus on stopping him. That with their bad grasp of the meta has hurt them. It seems they are reeling from the meta shift and holding onto picks like the that arent as good anymore
