Preseason Timeline

Current timeline below for the various stages of the preseason rollout. Dates might change a bit if unexpected issues crop up, but this is what we're aiming for.

  1. Around October 10th we'll start by talking through our goals for the preseason

  2. We'll then show some of the key things changing in preseason in the 10th Anniversary Edition of Riot Pls livestream (15th of October, 6pm PST)

  3. Straight after that we'll get a written rundown of all the big preseason changes on the Nexus.

  4. Preseason changes will start turning up on PBE around the 22nd of October. We'll have the changes on the PBE for a couple of patch cycles (~4 weeks) to give more time than usual to gather feedback, tune numbers, and fix bugs

  5. Preseason goes live on November 19th in patch 9.23


TFT PvE drop followup in next week's patch

We've got some polish to the revised TFT PvE drop system coming in patch 9.19. Overall, the changes have performed as hoped, though there are some issues we still want to address:

  • 4 cost units will no longer come from PvE drops before Krugs (potentially too distortionary getting a 4 cost unit before any PvP rounds had even happened, even if in many cases it wasn’t a big deal)
  • There'll be a bit less gold dropped (we overswung a little and put a bit too much in, still want a fair bit more than in the old system though)
  • Neeko's Help will be a bit more common (rarer than intended, shouldn't be quite such a scarce resource)
  • Spatulas will drop less (these by contrast are turning up a bit too much, making Spatula based plays more reliable than intended)

Around the time of the patch, we'll also share a few stats about how TFT's playrate looks for anyone interested in that side of things.

Hey Meddler, I’m just curious about QGT.

What are they for? Why do they exist? You seem to take no pleasure in doing them, more of a “I must do this and answer a few questions by tradition not obligation” vs actually interacting with player because you want to.

I was under the impression that they were here so that players could divulge feedback, ideas, and discuss champion related issues and changes with an actual Rioter in addition to learning about some future potential changes. It was for making the community feel like they could be involved and have a direct impact on the game and see what Riot thinks.

If this is not the case, please be blunt about it.

I understand a lot (and I mean A LOT) of the board's ideas are bad, poorly thought out, or crazy, this board is hyper toxic, Reddit really is not that much better as well. But some post exist even here that are well done, thought out, genuine, positive, and nothing too restrictive or simply bug fixes that have been afflicting champions for a long time expressed in very constructive manners.

None of these ever seem to be addressed except a few rare exceptions. For instance, Aug 2 a Sona ammo bar was asked for and it seemed to actually get enough traction with you to be worked on. However, you also said you’d let Shyvana scale with elder in 9.3.

QGT normally consist of the following...

The status of changes to the game announced, like TFT updates etc.

What Riot is planning on doing with X champion, disregarding all additional feedback.

Future plans Riot will do, usually no matter what. Teemo changes are one of those exceptions.

And lastly What do you think of X situation or X champion and its state.

If their question doesn’t fall into one of these bland categories, it’s usually ignored. While as I stated exceptions exist, I feel like this is not what players really think about when it comes to QGT as reflected in the comments. This may as well be an announcement page vs a discussion. You are just informing people of the status of things. Perhaps you think I’m wrong but looking at the history of QGT for the past 4 months, that’s mostly what it is.

With that said, I just want to ask two more questions.

Is there somewhere we can go to actually talk balance, should we even do that, or is that just a luck thing? Maybe a Rioter that cares will see it. Or is the communities' feedback in this regard essentially futile?

Where can members talk about bugs that are hurting or even destroying certain champions? WW/Syndra/Poppy/Diana etc.

Maybe you are wondering why? Why would you care? We’ll I’ve seen these boards for a while now, true I’m mostly talking about Shyvana, but some people are pouring out genuine thought’s just to be overshadowed with pure Riot hatred since that gets the upvotes. You’ve seen it already; all you have to do is look at the Hot section to see the hatred. I just thought that over time it was, fixable, should Riot focus on the players that are genuine. I made this massive Shyvana rework post, it’s hyper detailed full of many ideas even an ultimate skin. I was having a blast, but I ice boxed it, because why put 10 more hours into it, when Riot won’t even acknowledge it, when I could be doing other fun stuff?

Personally, I just feel like Riot doesn’t care about anything a player says anymore, I’d hope that’s still not true. But I don’t see it even here. I mean look at the last week of red post. So I genuinely ask you Meddler, not as the voice for necessarily all of Riot, but at least yourself. What are QGT for?

Skarner has been really popular in this years' pro games, which pleasantly surprised me, but it's a bit sad that he's only valued as an ult+predator bot, what are your thoughts on Skarner ? Thank you!

FOr the past however long i can remember, damage has been high...

tanks are failing to tank even malphite lately.... he should scale well with armour but im seeing many AP builds instead...

I feel like also divers should dive in and survive with good defence and offence options but they seem to dive and easily kill such as jarvan and jax.... kinda feels like theyre assasins without escapes...

Onto the subject of assasins it used to be at least 1 would be viable and to have more would be very risky.... however multiple assasins are existing almost every game building the same build and with a couple of kills they snowball easily and thanks to high damage little counterplay... For example with blue kayn many times have players experienced this guy running at high speeds through walls and quickly dealing massive damage with W Q and an R to finish... what could be the counterplay to that? especially if youre an immobile champion which is hard to dodge his W... We might be able to say dodge W but considering CDs its not really a viable option.. Same with Zed.. he gets a couple of kills and can easily kill with a W E Q W auto ignite electrocute... The ult is mainly used as a dodging tool such as to dodge malph ult or fiora W... its second tool is as a second gap closer.. I kidna feel like assasins should feel strong and able to kill but to do it so easily and without ults feels too much (but these are just a couple of examples) .... an ult should be their main killing tool

A standard tank build is inferior to a diver with Steraks cleaver hydra maw etc ( these HP items with damage) the shields they get on top of the HP and maybe a standard tank item makes them much more tankier and with damage than a normal tank.... The only tanks who feel viable are the ones that deal good damage simply because when theyre in the fight theyre not tanking damage theyre killing to lower the damage they take...

Finally CD ... CD is too common and should be lowered ...... maybe remove CD from some damage items and give them to tank items i do not know

But i do know one thing ... damage is just too high, mobility is everywhere and a small champion pool being viable isnt good either...

Any light on changing this?

Hello. How do you guys feel about teh curretn season compared to the past was it overall an improvement? One more, is there anything please planned for Taliyah, especially taliyah mid? It seems the champion is currently dead in any role, possible giving her the waveclear power back to make her a mid laner again?

Skarner Skarner. Revert his Q, Bring his Original Passive back or make a new one (somethign that fits his lore ? Venoumous sting that that deals magic DoT and heals you fopr that amount), R cast time removed, W slow reduction.Skarner

This is coming from a karma main.

I agree, karma needs a nerf. Her top lane bulling, and late game utility are a big part of her strength, but I think you guys are going the wrong way with these nerfs. If they go through, she will never see play.

One of her big strength, in the top lane is not her q poke but her ability to stay in lane forever with high health with mantra w, if the heal is removed she would be gone from top play but still playable in mid and bot, not to mention her infuriating tank build would be removed from the game.

Do you guys agree or think these nerf are good?

Very soon preseason,and there are a few questions.

  1. Ranked for Aram ? You have entered ranks for tft, but for example, not everyone plays this mode.

  2. Update for Co-op vs. AI? Are there any ideas or thoughts to update?

  3. Zyra. Any news, updates, buffs or changes for solo lane (midlane,bottom,jungle)?

Thoughts on Zyra atm? Her plants are awkward to use and i'd prefer if she would deal less dmg with abilities while plants being some useful vs melees and 1 shotting abilities like cassio's e or irelia's q

Recently a lot of champions have been given “refreshes” to help players who play those champions or who used to play those champions enjoy that champion. (Kayle, now Shaco)

What are your thoughts on Taliyah getting one of these? Ever since her rework a lot of players have been quite unhappy with her burst playstyle.

Hey Meddler, I'm here to ask about AP Ezreal once more (not hybrid).

In the past 2 years-ish since klepto's release, Ezreal has seen many nerfs to his early game power through ability numbers and base stat reductions. AP Ezreal has, for the most part, been much more harshly affected by these changes than AD Ezreal/Hybrid Ezreal.

I'm going to be straight here and say that as an AP Ezreal one trick, it's been pretty rough. But complaining isn't what I'm here to do. I want to offer some ideas for balance directions so that AP Ezreal can co-exist with his botlane kleptomaniac counterpart(s).

Make Q deal adaptive damage based on your AP or AD total. This means AD Ezreal no longer is dealing mostly physical damage if he chooses to go for a more hybrid route, while simultaneously making AP Ezreal a little stronger by allowing void staff (a core component of AP Ezreal's build) to work on his Q.

Remove kleptomancy, revert nerfs. kind of a worst case scenario, as there are still other users of the rune, and removing an entire rune is pretty drastic, bit I'm just adding it here for completeness.

Re-add the most recent Q damage AP Ratio nerf onto E's AP Ratio. This gives AP Ezreal's burst a bump up to pre 9.16 levels. Obviously still a slight buff to hybrid Ezreal as well, though generally AD/Hybrid builds want to hold E for escaping and not bursting.

This one's a little out there, but perhaps using a system similar to Kai'sa's passive, Ezreal can have certain changes to his abilities to make AP Ezreal a little stronger without letting AD Ezreal take advantage of them. For example, in my first suggestion, you might just gate that behind a 400 AP stat wall or something, making it really difficult for AD/Hybrid to opt for without really specializing into tons of AP. My second example is a little more extreme. You could add a similar AP threshold to W that makes it revert to a pre-rework state without any other changes. This allows AP Ezreal to have his AoE nuke back, and makes the spell borderline useless for AD and Hybrid builds (and also removes a muramana proc from their combos).

Add something to his passive to make it slightly more useful to AP Ezreal than Attack Speed. I'm no designer so my idea here is pretty bland. Rising spell force grants +X% bonus AP per stack. Numbers at your discretion, obviously. Hybrid Ezreal barely benefits here, while this definitely gives a helping hand to AP Ezreal.

Has anything been considered for Kalista recently? I know a whole ago you guys said you were done with trying kit changes on her, but recently some of the mini reworks like Malphite have actually not been bad. Was wondering if you hired someone with 4 phds to try something similar for Kalista.

Hello there ''Meddler'', How is life going ? all okay? Tell me that you really decided to remove twisted treeline... Its music was spectacular and mysterious.. It was giving other sense of taste in league and that's it sth that TFT never had and will never have because every game mode you create its worse than the previous one. Keep it in the game because it is the only characteristic that has left to remember from old league of legends. But no , you decided to remove it as well and replace it with that rediculous TFT ahahah what a joke. Personally i believe that Tft shouldnt even be a game mode in league . It is nothing in front of twisted treeline. I WANT TO SAY TO YOU THAT YOU ALL DO IT FOR MONEY!!! You never listen to other ppl opinions. jhin s rng crits are weird , why does the rng have to apply to the 4th shot if it will always crit ? sometimes u will have 75% crit and only 1 or 2 aa crit , bcs the 4th shot was an rng crit when it s supposed to be a guarenteed crit a quality of life change would be to fix this by removing the 4 th shot from rng crit or make it as so that jhin gets like an increased crit ratio like yasuo or maybe if the 4th shot rng crits it does bonus damage bcs rn that clunky interaction between rng and passive feels so bad jhi is a champ that s supposed to feel good , this doesn t fel good i hope u fix this or at least explain why u won t thank you for ur time

1.) Add: 10min / 20min / 30min / 1h / 2h / 3h / 4h / .... / 24h rehabilitation.

2.) Add: Honor points. 2.2.) Honor points are visible in champ select, lobby, profile. 2.1.) Honor can not be get by 3rd part.

3.) Add: Perform points. 3.1) Gain more points, if you lose, when perform well and less if you win and perform well (based on mark gained; if you get S+, S, S-).

4.) All games are played for MMR. 5.) MMR is shown. 6.) MMR is show in champ select. 7.) Division is get based on MMR and on specified online tournament / match.

8.) Add: MVP calculation based on all stats. 9.) Add: Based on MVP calculation at end of game system says who played the best, based on calculation. 10.) Add: MVP with good honor can give / 5min / 10min rehabilitation to others by losing some honor points (more if he /she give rehabilitation to someone with good perform score)

11.) Add: Honor points are shown to others in champ select 12.) Add: Honor points can be get by system and other players honor 13.) Add: At end of game lobby button to perform well / perform bad and positive / negative. 14.) Add: Reports cost honor points (0.05). 15.) Add: Invalid/Valid reports takes honor in ration 0.95 : 0.05. 16.) Add: Player can use "perform well / perform" and "positive / negative" to all other 9 players. 17.) 44.) Add: 2 tag icons per player, which are based on score calculated by system (most healing done -> healer tag, usually do dmg -> free dmg deliver tag,..). 45.) Tags are shown as tag in champ select, on mouse over, profile.

46.) Add: Mute button (mute options: pre-game, game, post game). 46.1.) Add: Notification button after going 1st. time play with others (to mute or not). 46.2.) Add: Mute button is available in client and game settings.

Solution2-Trynda is hyper strong in s9 in this fight I died in 2 sec and he did 3 dash on me. Realy no ct play champ when he go in we stun him and he r and he get rid off all our stun our stun on cd and he give more dmg cuz off last stand rune and he get back his health again. solution3- nerf the champs which I wrote at problem 3 also nerf shojin and trinity force pls

late to the party :p, but on the off chance you see this. I'd like to ask if there are any future plans to have league return to a slower state of gameplay? Specifically what we saw in seasons 3-5. While arguably they had their defects i'm curious if riot will ever return to that sorta gameplay and attempt to head in a new direction with it.

Agree or disagree it's all fine, just wanted to actually have the thoughts read by a rioter, and getting past the slew of ADC mains that hate the champ and people who have not played the champion for the last 8 years to get any upvotes hasn't been very fruitful on the forums.
