Rant posts do not belong on GD

This is a general problem with moderators not understanding the purpose of having specific sections separate from a General section, but it's worse with the Rant board.

The Rant board is specifically for people who aren't actually making a substantive case, are ignorant of or willfully ignoring stats and the like, and are generally just angry at something or another because they lost a game. Or in other words.... people who aren't looking to have a discussion. They're looking to rant.

And being that they aren't actually a discussion topic, rants don't fall under the guidelines for General Discussion.

This is very much the sort of situation that moderator discretion exists for. As a board, General Discussion has always been a place where pretty much anything is allowed to fly, and I don't want to lose too much of that through over moderation. In the case of threads complaining or venting specifically, there is a certain somewhat ambiguous area in which they are acceptable content for both boards. I would certainly be amenable to culling some of the more egregiously aggressive rant threads, but I think moving every venting or complaint thread to the Rant board would be over moderation of General Discussion.

That's a pretty long-winded way of saying the mods are too lazy to do what they signed up for.

By definition venting and empty complaining are not topics that belong in DISCUSSION.

I'd gladly become a mod to do the job if every existing mod is too lazy to do it.

It's more a long-winded way of saying that there's some ambiguity, and we err on the side of giving GD freedom, as GD often requests more freedom. I appreciate that you disagree, but "remove all venting from GD" is not and never has been part of what we signed up for. I know, because I've signed up for it.

It's mods like you and the others who simply like to abuse their power and respond with, "shut the fuck up I'm the boss" to every criticism that make the boards a place Riot can't actually take seriously.

You realize that the large majority of GD users want it to be a free space where anything goes, right? You're in the minority here, you're fighting an uphill battle and you're not going to get anywhere by calling the mods abusive or power-crazy.

Actually, I'd rather crack down harder on that sort of thing (as a personal stance). The community doesn't want that level of crack-down, for the most part. We've asked. I'm sorry that's not what you like, but insulting me personally doesn't really help in any way.
