Alright...so this is somehow punishable now?

So got punished for making this simple statement, and got a 1 day ban. I talked to a few members of the community who agreed that in no way, shape, or form this counts as a rule break. Had a 1 day ban and after I had woken up opt'ed to go into the discord...where I waited about 8 hours before giving up. I'd like to know other's thoughts on this.

I don't think this was a fair punishment or worth a removal tbh.

I say it all the time. Moderators are too quick on the ban button.

I thought KnightsKemplar was a decent mod (not perfect or a favorite by any standards, just kinda average), but I guess no more. He literally punished a person for talking about moderation history on the boards, without naming or blaming anyone.

That is unjust.

How dare you imply that mods aren't perfect. Reported. Banned. Excommunicated. Exiled. Hanged for high treason.

DartExplosion1012/2/2018, 7:19:42 PM21 votes

the mods here are actual trash lol

How dare you call our power mad mods power mad. did you think this was a place of free speech or something?

Mods abusing their power as usual and then ignoring post. Remove these abusive mods

ModUlanopo12/2/2018, 10:21:38 PM18 votes

Just to be clear - and because the boards won't let me edit my original post for some reason - the reason this was removed is because we all know who you're talking about and we are not under any circumstances going to host a discussion about whether or not a person who was on the mod team abused their power, acted inappropriately or anything of the sort. We do this out of common respect for that person and because any incidents are considered resolved on our end.

If you have concerns about a member of the moderation team, you are always welcome to ask for a review by one of the Heralds, though it would generally be best if you did so on the Boards Discord. If you are unable to resolve the issue to your satisfaction, the next step would be a support ticket addressed to Keyru.

aw, knightskemplar must be having a bad day :(

I don't believe it's wrong to comment about a moderators performance. I've seen plenty of times where someone in power here in the boards would openly say what a player did wrong or got reported for stating that a punishment was justified or they did a wrong action, why can't the community say the same in a non-toxic level to moderators? If a mod was power hungry and everyone knows which it was then that's a consequence of their action, players shouldn't be punished for using that as an example when bringing up a reason why a dedicated mod isn't a good idea, that's just bringing up a previous issue relating to a topic.

I looked over the action and while we could have done a better job of explaining the reason, I feel it's a legit removal. We all know who you were talking about and this post only served to start conflict and drama.

If you want to contest the punishment, you're always welcome to come to the Boards Discord, but I won't be undeleting the content.

Is accusing a moderator of being "power mad" against the rules now or only ex-mods (even if unnamed)? Are we not allowed to speak negatively of ex-mods or are we only not allowed to call them "power mad" ? If I accuse separate ex-mods of being power mad (like on that starts with a T) would I also be punished?

I saw many critical posts as well as posts accusing said ex-moderator of similar things back when they were still a moderator and those comments were kept up just fine and I see posts critical of current mods/advisors/heralds which leads me to believe is is the second and if it truly is the second then I think we need to need to add a new rule the Boards for clarity. "Do not accuse ex-moderators (unnamed or not) of abusing their power."

The reason this was removed is because we all know who you're talking about and we are not under any circumstances going to host a discussion about whether or not a person who was on the mod team abused their power, acted inappropriately or anything of the sort.

This part of your pinned comment is kind of a strawman. OP didn't want to host a discussion about said ex-moderator by any means. If the conversation was heading towards that direction then I can understand the deletion, but it wasn't heading there at all.

Looks like A Knightskemplar went kinda power mad there.

Kidding aside, I feel like your statement while, yeah possibly bringing back past conflicts in not the best fashion, is more of a greyish thing. If you explained why you thought that, things would have looked entirely different because then people would have something to base a discussion on.

Personally, I think this was just another low quality comment (not necessarily something wrong with that) in a sea of low quality comments that got picked out because of the difficult nature of the subject.

A 24 hour ban for being rude for no reason, oh shit. muh freeze peach!

Marshbouy12/2/2018, 10:06:04 PM6 votes

Most of the time I am in defense of the moderators on the boards. this is not one of those times.

The Goodest Boy12/2/2018, 9:58:27 PM5 votes

this is... a little ridiculous? this is in no way shape or form insulting or rude or inflammatory to literally anyone...

my only guess would be that the person who issued the ban was... friends with the mod who "went power hungry"? trying to cover his reputation? simply mad because you brought it up?

this should NOT have resulted in a ban. im a little worried if this is deemed acceptable.
