Will there ever be an option to exclude certain categories?

I am not a fan of teamfight tactics and more often than not player behaviour is just people who recently got perma banned and are salty about it.

It would be nice to have our own custom list of categories that are shown, to be able to see all the hottest threads about what I care about instead of having to click on Gameplay and scroll through 30 of the same "RIOT PLEASE FIX CLIENT!>!>!>!>!>!>!>" posts that are just nonsensical spam with no actual bug report or helpful evidence. It's always this with the body being something like "ples riot fix cleint".

We're thinking about this sort of thing, and exploring the possibilities. It's something we'd love, certainly.

Hey I was also curious if the mods were ever going to start enforcing specific category rules.

For example if someone places a post in gameplay, but it's about player behaviour, they would either remove the post and tell the OP to post it in the correct spot, or move it themselves.

Same with the spam of 20 posts in hot all being about the same thing, like it is currently.

Right now the categories are more of a recommendation.

We already do this. We simply don't always catch everything.

This is a bit trickier. Players are allowed to post about topics important to them, and popular topics can hit Hot multiple times.

I do agree, but the problem is that in Hot, a post lasts for maybe a day or two before falling very low.

The algorithm for determining hot I assume isn't just upvotes and downvotes, although it is a major component, it also seems to have to do with how frequently the post is viewed, commented, and voted on. So a post with 20 upvotes in 20 minutes is higher than a post with 50 in a day.

Frequently I see a good post fall out of hot within around a day due to other more insignificant posts that only have around 5-10 upvotes that are like I said, "RIOT FIX CLIENT PLZ" with the body being "THIS CLIENT IS GARBAGE".

It makes the boards very fast despite the relatively low user count and overshadow the good posts that someone put actual effort into.

There is no reasonable way we could catch and handle similar threads before they're able to hit Hot, nor can the algorithm reliably detect similar content, sadly.

A Feature could be added to only show the highest upvoted posts in the past 7 days, where the top 25 posts in that category are shown. After a week it will disappear and another will take it's place, granted another new post has not overtaken it already.

Please stay tuned. We may have some thoughts on this sort of general concept soon.

Something more off topic:

Items, Champions, and SS being numbers instead of their name when adding them to a post.

item 3031 - Infinity Edge is 3031 for some reason, where I will probably never be able to remember all the numbers corresponding to their item.

This is why there's a box with a type-in filter. I don't believe we can easily change this functionality.

It doesn't sound like too difficult of a task to complete, but I guess I don't know how it is written so I can't really say.

This is correct. Given our level of access to boards code as volunteers and how the data is structured, things that an individual may believe is easy are not necessarily easy.
