Attacking anyone who opposes you before they have even posted a response to you is dismissive, discourages healthy discussion, and makes you look like a massive asshole.

"There is no good reason to do it" there is no reason. Most people that act like jerks arent thinking at all. They use their anonymity to let their emotions run their course without stopping to consider what they are doing. After all, its just the internet right? Same as its just a game, right?
Anything i said with "right" behind it is intended as sarcastic remarks. The disembodied text on the screen makes it difficult for less empathical individuals to visualize and identify with the people on the other side. Most people would hopefully never speak the way they do online face to face. Sadly they'll never have to, either.
