Why are posts that blatantly attack players of a specific champion allowed?

Literally every other day, a post that attacks players of a specific champion makes its way to the front page of the boards. How is moderation just letting this happen?

It is literally said in the rules: Section "Bad Stuff", Subsection "Gameplay & Rank Shaming": "No belittling or shaming a player for their champion pool, rank, playstyle, or match history."

If you're a Zed, Riven, Yasuo, or 'whatever champion that is the flavor of the month' player, you might as well just not post on the boards.

There's no trade-off we're making here. These posts aren't providing high-level discussion in exchange for insulting players. They're the same low-effort shitposts complaining about a character without any real discussion other than "x champion broken, x mains bad".

#Just to prove my point, let's get some examples going:

https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/khrUOBEK-what-i-have-been-told-by-zed-mains-on-this-board-for-the-month

What I have been told by Zed mains on this board for the month

Cry me a river. It's a shame they made a rad skin for you guys just for you to move to Yasuo after the nerfs.

https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/AjkUwENn-i-hate-playing-against-riven

The cognitive dissonance is fucking insane, they will NEVER admit that this champ has been broken for years now, that this champ's design is flawed.

These are on the front page of the boards. They aren't hard to find.

But hey, let's go to comments:

Because it would require skill if it's hitbox wasn't huge.

If these monkeys were sent to seaaon 4 they will be feeding instead of winning.

{quoted}

Pretty much.

Zed mains, the only specie of mains to cry buffs are nerfs.

I like how everyone single person who defends Riven absurd playrate and win rate only ever either

A - Yells about another champion being more options

B - Insults the OP by saying they're bad and that's why they lose to riven

Found the riven defender

High win and play rate isnt enough for a nerf according to you guys

I quote the people because I feel like they should be accountable for what they said.

I think moderation has failed for allowing this to happen and also letting it continue to happen, considering I have complained about this before.

Your message is lost because you are name-shaming.

Just because specific champion mains are being lambasted by other players doesn’t mean you can violate the Universal Rules and Guidelines by necro’ing old posts without removing the posters’ name. That is how witch hunts start and Riot has a zero-tolerance policy regarding that.

As far as players being mistreated because of the champion they main I agree that they probably shouldn’t be subject to these actions. I suspect the reason these particular champion mains are such frequent targets however is the multitude of brash, “look at me, look at me” personalities that have dominated the player behind those champions for years.

I think naming and shaming doesn't stretch to what someone comments on a public forum. Quoting someone from a public forum should always be allowed, especially within that forum itself.

I agree with the op. I feel that when posts like the op shows are upvoted the mods are allowing an "us vs them" narrative to form. I don't believe that's healthy for discussion, and so believe the mods should be more proactive in removing posts that do no more than bad mouth player bases.

Name shaming is a big no-no. Pretty sure your post will be gone, I'd recommend editing it before it's taken down.

Genuine posts that aren’t just bashing a champion that provide a well structured debate topic over the champs balance get downvoted to hell by players of that champion, it takes two to Tango my friend.

People are able to express how much they hate things in a fictional video game.

Sometimes, there's a problem with the game that makes it so incredibly unfun that it defeats the purpose of playing. For some people, it's Riven, it's Zed, or it's something as small as Fiddlesticks.

People will always look down on assassins for being "talentless one-click wonders", because that's how their kits are designed. Talon Zed Fizz

People also have the tendency to put those that associate with what they hate in the same basket as what they hate - they'll treat Yasuo players like how they'd treat Yasuo. You'll never change that, and from personal experience, I sometimes treat Zed players as an obstacle standing in my way of actually enjoying the next 30 minutes of my life just to spite me, rather than a human being (or a monkey, if it's ranked) who queued up into the same game.

Overall, I think people are just frustrated about how the almost universally hated "tryhard 1v9" champions are so powerful right now that it invalidates playing champions that require longer strains of thought, or have pockets of weakness during the game length.

Let them express their anger, it's probably healthier in the long run than trying to censor it.
