Obviously there is some skill gap between the two groups. But what really separates a gold player from a silver player ?

Usually Silver players will still ward plenty, select good team fights and don't noob chase into the jungle with no vision

So I would just like to know the biggest difference from lets say a Silver 2 vs Gold 4 ?

Silver players don't ward. Supports buy sightstone and then never use it. They also chase really hard with no vision. This happens all the time every game.

Gold players do this some but not nearly as often. Most supports in gold know how to ward well. Also gold players know what dragon is and how to push down turrets.

When you ask between silver 2 and gold 4 the difference is luck

Silver 2 is just the better of silvers and gold 4's are just the worst of the golds

The real difference comes from the silver 5 to the gold 1's

EXTREMELY rough and somewhat exaggerated approximation of the differences between tiers:

Bronze: Has maybe a vague idea how to play their specific champion, little concept of teamwork and warding.

Silver: Knows roughly what needs to be done to win, but doesn't have the skill to translate their epic plays from imagination to reality. Likes holding on to trinkets and sightstones for apparently decorative purposes.

Gold: Knows the ins and outs of laning, teamfighting, and building items reactively, still hampered by lack of experience and coordination. Still forgets to use trinkets frequently.

Platinum+: Pretty much knows what they're doing, with their rank being a rough approximation of how adaptable they are to their teammates. Fills inventory with wards whenever possible.

I used to think people in gold were better than people in silver, but recently ive been encountering gold border players that are just so bad...

I had one game where our gold border nidalee thought it was a good idea to chase an ap ezreal into his own jungle, despite our team not having a single ward in there. She and the teammate with her got pubstomped by the enemy team and she then proceeded to berate me for not following them. Oh, and she spent the whole game "split pushing", that is to say getting caught by the enemy team constantly on our own side of the map , but continued to defend her strategy despite being 14 deaths deep and having taken 0 enemy towers.

I mean, how can someone get to gold with those kinds of mentalities? I mean never mind chasing into an unwarded jungle, but youre chasing a freakin EZREAL for crying out loud.

I'm surprised not a single member has mentioned the difference in farming cs during laning phase. Bronze players certainly are terrible at it and I'm not sure how good gold players farm in lane

Kenshin Himura once told Aoshi Shinamori that the difference between them was paper thin.

Gold and Silver is like that, paper thin with the victors earning gold and the others silver.

I find that Gold players know their champ in and out.

mostly descision making and champion knowledge (power spikes, damage knowledge, etc.)

A good silver player has 1 build, and 1 page of masteries that they plan to use every game with a specific champion.

A good gold player builds according to whats actually happening in the game.

Honestly, I wouldn't say that about most silver players that I've played with. They've been pretty awful. If you do all those things consistently, and have good enough mechanics, you're probably gold material.

I've been in silver and gold. My honest opinion is that there is no difference to tell the truth. I still get the trolling players just as much when I was in gold.

Bad decision making and familiarity with champions is biggest difference between gold and silver, continuing on that difference between plats and golds are feeling flow of the game, when to do what, and between plat and higher is mechanical game skills. This does not apply to all but to majority of players i met so far, and i met many :D
