So I'm trying to pick up thresh since he's so freaking strong, but I'd like some advice on using him.

Usually I run a tanky thresh. So I'll do relic and pick what I think we need next. I personally favor righteous glory, but sometimes I'll do randuins if they're ad heavy, or banshee if its the apc getting fed. I also run mobi's.

I'd like to learn more about utility thresh as well. I've seen him played but I usually feel he doesn't do too well. Not sure if its just the ones I run into (I'm low silver) or what.

But yeah, any advice, tips or whatnot would be greatly appreciated. :)

its all about the mechanics being able to land a hook with its slight delay, flaying the right way, and lanterns for ganks or pulling your team member out. Lanterns are probably were the average thresh player has trouble if you can learn to lantern well and land hooks and flays your an insane engage/disengage machine. for his build its situational. just remember his passive gives you Armour over time so health is always a good buy even if you have to sacrifice a bit or amour. also i personally dont like aegis but sometimes you really need to by it for your team along with or instead a chalice but like i said theirs tons of build paths on thresh

I find that Ancient Coin is much more useful than Relic Shield on Thresh, especially when you build it into Talismen. It can get you out of sticky situations plus good to use if you need to get close to land a hook.

item 3800 is something to get when your team is strong enough to have a good chance of winning team fights if you can force them. If you are not strong enough, there are other items that will give better odds of winning when fights occur ( item 3401 item 3110 item 3105 item 3222 ).

While you did not mention it, I have see a lot of tanky supports build item 3068 . Don't. There might be some edge cases for it, but you pay a premium for its wave clear power that is just not usually useful for a support.

I would not really worry about how tanky you are beyond just picking items that do give defensive stats. Either your team has a tank that is getting farm who will be the primary tank or it will not really matter because it takes at least two tanks to actually mean something.

item 3069 is a worthy pick up instead of item 3401 if your team needs better ability run from bad fights.

PLEASE LISTEN TO SKIA ASTERI he is correct in order to add onto it although his hooks will normally initiate USE YOUR W TO POSITION PEOPLE CORRECTLY max rqwe in that order q is for cdr and w is cdr and e is just because you have to put points into. go arm quints health seals magic resist glyphs and attack damage reds OR if you are scared just go armor reds masteries are either 0/9/21 or 0/16/14. and when you get into lane instantly start attacking the enemy and if your adc advances flay them towards you continue to do this during all of laning phase and use q to follow up. I don't recommend engaging with your q ALL THE TIME because since you're just learnign thresh it will take a while to learn the width and speed of his hook

Thresh is a pretty straight forward champion honestly, theres not much advice people can give you on the play style beyond landing hooks and flaying properly and whatnot. Some key points to remember is to throw your hook with escapes in mind, such as Zed shadows and Ezreal shifts. Typically people will favor one direction over others when dodging so even if you miss some hooks just keep track of which way they go and youll land em eventually. Also remember that you can flay people out of certain abilities such as Panths stun and Leonas root, preventing a proper enemy engage and saving lives.

In terms of build you pretty much just have to go with whatever your team needs based on what the enemy team is doing, but you seem to already know that. Righteous Glory is a more situational pick since you wont always have a team that can make use of its active (you only get bonus movespeed if youre running towards enemies), but if you really want a movespeed item like that you can just sell your item 3401 and buy a item 3069 at some point. Youll want to go with item 3302 to start though because it provides more gold than item 3301 if youre adamant about using the charges. Once it reaches mid-late game however youll find less opportunities to use the charges since minions will start dying so quickly so you can safely trade it out for item 3069 .
