Split pushing problems

I've noticed something constant in most games I play, and especially in most games I lose. I can do fairly well in lane, help mid out, push towers, and even get dragon, but as soon as we group up for a team fight everything goes wrong.

What happens each game is we try pushing one of the inside turrets and the enemy team just dances around inside their turret, and we just dance around next to it waiting for minions to push it ever so slightly. We get to the point where we either all leave or half of us leave, and then either the same thing happens in a different lane or whatever lane we left just gets 5 man pushed and now the split off lane is now dealing with a 2v5. I'm trying to figure out which members to split off should be but I can't figure out who pushes fast enough.

Basically how do I split push a lane successfully without just getting the enemy team an ace?

You need champions with fast attack speed and great mobility for escaping the inevitable collapse. Champions who are great at taking turrets are Kayle Khazix MasterYi Nasus Rengar Shyvana Nocturne Trundle XinZhao Vi Tryndamere Udyr Fiora Jax and a few others. I think one of the best turret takers in the game right now is Tristana because of being able to use her E on turrets, with attack speed you can CHUNK those turrets.

Requires your team to be competent at avoiding fights while still dancing around near an objective. Having summoner 12 helps in the event things get hairy for your team or so you can quickly rejoin them when the other team responds to your split push.

The alternative would be to set up a side lane to slow push (kill the siege and caster minions, leave melee minions until a large wave is built up) and then have the minions split push for you. Requires a good bit of planning and coordination that can be hard to come by.

Hey buddy! So i want to tell you we all know the feel, win lane lose game, but I want help you with carrying games from the top lane! So first i want to suggest champs to play. Id say Irealia, Hecarim, Jax Leblanc, lulu, Nasus, Riven, Trundle and Xin. Now i must say that there are champs on my short list here that are better in more scenarios than others, but they are however all decent split pushers that are pretty safe picks. Champions like Jax and Irealia are really good not only in the split push but actually offer things for teamfights, whereas champions like nasus are there for 1v1 and 2v2ish fights. As for splitpushing itself the goal is to push a lane become a problem for the enemy theam, weither you are pushing a lane and taking towers or you are sitting in lane and killing whoever comes your way, the goal is to be the biggest issue possible. But the Idea of splitpushing cant stop at you creating pressure there, you should be communicating with your team when you have pulled multiple people to your lane so that they can use the lack of other people so that they can use their numbers advantage by either fighting or taking an objective. So this next part is a really silly but it should make sense, dont die. so you want to be as anoying as you can and if you are getting killed then you are giving them something back for their time. The goal of the splitpusher is to waste their time so you should be trying to get deep wards in their jungle, you should invest 250 gold in upgrading your yellow trinket to the stealth one(this will make more sense in game). OK well that should be a good chunk of what i can tell you and if you have more questions please feel free and ask me!

Another possibility is someone with global pressure. Shen is a great split pusher. Why? his attack speed sucks, his base damage sucks, his wave clear sucks..... But if while you're split pushing, a team fight breaks out, you can ulti in and be right back into a 5v5. So you're able to maintain 5v5 pressure in say, midlane, cause of the threat of your ulti, so you get either a free 1v0 push, or enemy is forced to 4v4, which can quickly turn 5v4 in your favor. There's other champs like this too. Ashe Gangplank KarthusLux Nocturne Pantheon RekSai Soraka Rengar Shen Sion TwistedFateJinx all hold some form of global pressure. (and Teemo, but FK Teemo! =P ) I'm not saying you should always split push with them, just something to think about, even if they're not with the team, they still have something to offer to a team fight should the enemy force one. But also, those champs need to keep in mind their global pressure and be ready to use it even while splitting. Shen ulti's not gonna help if you wait till 3 guys die before you notice and use it. Also stealth champs are nice, you can kind of bluff and enemy into thinking you're 5v5 mid, so they're scared to engage. Then your stealth slips off and gets a tower before they have time to react. You gotta be careful with that one though, cause you need to let your team know when you're gonna reveal yourself so they have time to back off so enemy doesn't realize you're not there, then collapse on your allies because they see you're not with the team anymore.

But yes, lacking that, whoever has the best waveclear and escape mechanic should probably do the split. Coughcough![Tristana](https://ddragon.leagueoflegends.com/cdn/16.11.1/img/champion/Tristana.png) cough

Also, timing on your splits matter a lot more than who splits. If dragon's up in 30 seconds and you're blue side jungler and you wanna push top...don't. You're gonna force allies to contest dragon 4v5 without smite. Likely even if you get a tower in your split, you still cost your team some pretty heavy losses you could have prevented by being there for dragon, then do your split after.
