  • What should I be maxing first?
  • What's my build path?
  • Why do people never care to put points in Q?
  • And other tips appreciated :)

Don't play him, he gets outclassed by nearly every dominant jungler atm.

I play Udyr like this.

  1. R>W>E>Q for skills.

  2. My build is normally blue smite w/ cinderhualk, sheen, phage, triforce, (get boots some where in there, I like Merc treads for the reduced cc) then tank up based on enemy comp.

  3. Some people like Tiger stance because it eats towers, but makes farming slower.

Udyr can counter jungle pretty well, but not like Nunu.

Don't be afraid to flash bear stun for a gank.

When you stun them run around the enemy and body block their escape route you have way more damage potential.

Of course, builds very from person to person, even game to game. Once again this is how I like to play him.

I have seen Udyr players build bruiser with things like warrior enchantment or the 50 increase attack speed (forget the name), botrk, hydra, and black cleaver while focusing on the tiger stance.

Max either Phoenix or Tiger Stance (or both if you want). Split the rest of your points however you want it in Turtle and Bear Stance

Your build path is essentially a high damage one.

Start with a damage item: item 3074 item 3153 item 3078 item 3707 item 3710 I prefer Blade of the Ruined King because the active helps with chasing and stunning, the attack speed helps to proc Q and R more, the lifesteal and on hit synergizes with W, and it provides a good build path Trinity Force is another great option. I never build it, but it's good because Udyr benefits from all the stats and passives. Build one to two damage items per game. I generally rush a Blade of the Ruined King.

Get some health/armor: item 3143 item 3068 item 3110 item 3709 I prefer Sunfire, even over Cinderhulk, because I like the armor. I just sell off my Ranger's Trailblazer when I have two or three items completed, but that's my preference. Cinderhulk is strong, but it doesn't give armor. I don't like Frozen Heart on Udyr just because it doesn't give health, but it's good on him, so it's preference. Start with one of these and maybe two or more if there's a lot of physical damage enemies

Get some Magic resist: item 3091 item 3102 item 3065 These are my favorite. You should also probably get two of these items. I generally get a Wit's End first because it adds a lot of damage to Udyr's kit with extra Q and R procs, which is great with Tiger Stance and Blade of the Ruined King, where you can reach 2.0+ attacks per second.

Boots: item 3047 item 3111 item 3009 Get whichever one you feel as necessary. You can also get Boots of Mobility if you want, I don't like them, but don't let that stop you.

My general build path: item 2003 item 2003 item 1039 --> item 3713 item 3751 (maybe potions) --> item 3153 item 1001 --> item 3068 --> item 3091 --> item 3143 --> item 3102 --> item 2138

Of course, don't forget to upgrade your trinket, get that boot enchantment, and get an elixir when you want to.

My general skill point distribution Tiger: 5 (maxed second) Turtle: 5 (maxed third) Bear: 3 (filled last) Phoenix: 5 (maxed first) Of course, you experiment how you want. Either Phoenix or Tiger should be maxed first though. If you go top lane, I would recommend you max Turtle so you can get a ton of sustain really early. For Udyr, it's all about that point distribution, because all his stances are useful, so those two missing points really suck to not have.

My Jungle Path: Start Krugs (golems), go to Red, go to Raptors (Chickens), Blue (before Krugs buff runs out), Wolves, Gromp. Then go back whenever you want.

Tips: Udyr can solo dragon really early and really quickly compared to other junglers. In a game I just had, I soloed dragon like 3 times (we had 5 dragons). If you see the enemy jungler dead, or on at top, see if your smite is up, if so, you may want to solo dragon. Udyr can go head to head against most champions and win if he's in melee range, so don't be afraid to wait in a bush if you see an enemy walk by, and when they get close enough, stun them and kill them. Get that Krugs buff a lot, because it helps with saving health in the jungle. An early damage item really gets Udyr rolling early game. If not, it's fine though, because Udyr becomes a raid boss late game. Take whatever jungling item (smite) you feel comfortable with. Udyr has a ton of sustain with Turtle Stance, so use that on lane minions when your team is pushing when you've come out of a fight. That extra life will be a good safety net. Spam Bear and Turtle Stances to run away really quickly. Make full use of your passive. Don't spam stances too much, because you'll go out of mana quickly. ABOVE ALL ELSE: have fun, because it's what League is about. You may have a difficult time the first few games, but keep trying and you'll do fine.
