I am currently Silver 5 with close to 500 games in ranked and I prefer to play Talon
alot in the mid lane and occasionally top. I'm confident that I can climb the ladder despite the current tank meta with Talon in the mid lane and would like a little advice on how to achieve my goal of getting out of silver and on to higher elo. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Hasztalan21 votesStop playing. If u didnt climb out with 500 games then most likely you didn't listen to other ppls advice/didnt focus on improving yourself. And if you did not do that so far most unlikely that you'Ll now.

JayenKei1 votesI mean I'm only silver 4 but I started at bronze 2 season and I have only like 90 ranked games in my belt and I climbed 3 divisions... I also love talon xD uhmmm I checked out your op.gg you seem to just die a lot. You get a lot of kills but averaging 8 deaths is a little much
Also I recommend you not finishing ravenous so quickly because the extra ad and life steal isn't that advantageous
You should also consider getting boots of mobis after you rush brutalizer/tiamat so that you can gank side lanes more often
Make sure you ward often so that you don't get caught out in the jungle
When gawking try to gank from the jungle and not directly down the river because usually the river is warded well in our elo but horrible ward coverage in the jg... And remember to take sweepers or bring a pink so you don't waste time in a bush c:
ItsJustMania1 votesMy build is always brut- last whisper- hydra- and it normally takes me about 15 to 20ish minutes to finish. Maybe that's too soon I guess. But I will definitely take into consideration everything you said and I thank you for it.
JayenKei1 votesYeah it's mostly because you're paying 1400 gold for 12% life steal and 35 ad and really it's just not that worth
You could probably get younmus which is awesome on talon or start working toward your last whisper... Both items would give you more damage output but I normally go for the former.
Last piece of advice go in to team fights last... Even when the fight seems to be lost your ult could make the difference in a team fight because of its aoe nature but I'm pretty sure you knew that LOOOL
ItsJustMania1 votesLOL I thought Talons ult was death mark kappa. Anywho once I get my comp fixed and whatnot I will definitely try what you said. Also just curious what's your opinion on cleaver on him? I don't build it often and normally only get it when there are a lot of tanks.
JayenKei1 votesMmmm I like cleaver as a late item... I tend to get it as a 5th or 6th item depending on what my team needs

The reason why I put black cleaver last is because the armor shred is nice and the extra 400 health is a bonus however, GA and zhonyas (people think this is a waste but I use it for the very nice active) provide more survivability than cleaver. If your team needs help shredding tanks then get cleaver if not stick with standard defensive items c:
I think the last thing is that your cs average talon is really lowwww focus on csing

ItsJustMania1 votesmy build is either long sword 3 pots for a normal lane, or bottles 3 pots for a farm lane. From there I get a brutalizer then rush a last whisper. Depending on how well I'm doing decides what I buy next. If I'm behind I will get boots, if I'm ahead then I get hydra, or if they are too tanky (which is most of the time unlikely) I get a black cleaver. I almost always get Merc Treads or CDR boots. Mobis are too risky in my opinion especially since Talon lacks the auto attack strength of Zed, and you can't use your E unless it's on an enemy. So when I get caught while wearing mobis unless I have my ult, 8/10 I'm probably gonna die.

I don't build a GA ever because I never really see the point in buying a small second chance if I could have more damage to make sure they die the first time. Just a preference of mine.
JayenKei1 votesIn my opinion when you have five damage items with the hydra active that's more than enough damage to blow up a carry which is why I tend to get a defensive item
Here's why I think boots of mobility are better than lucidity and merc (in most situations)
Talon is a roamer..there's absolutely no denying that. Ever since he lost his silence his ability to solo kill in a lane got more difficult (not impossible but it isnt easy either). The ability to move up and down jungles really helps Talon quickly get to a side lane to gank or get back to his lane without losing too much cs/experience Lucidity sounds nice on paper but tbh Talon's ult is already on an extremely low cd anyways soo I don't think you really need it
Merc is good if the team has super heavy cc
But I prefer roaming with Talon over everything else
I also don't really like the bloodthirster pick up simply because Talon isn't an AA reliant champ...So the life steal he receives is extremely minimal...Black cleaver like I said is a good item but I think there are other items you can take.
Remember even though Talon is known to be a suicide bomber doesn't mean you act like one. Talon if he's able to survive and wait for cds can do a lot of damage with just an e-w-q combo.
ItsJustMania1 votesI do tend to run mobis occasionally if say my laner is roaming as well. If not then I get Mercs or CDR boots and rarely swifties. And to explain why I get bloodthirster along with Hydra: typically, after a fight is done and I'm relatively low health I can just lifesteal back to full health. I also typically get into a bunch of Talon Vs Yasuo matchups and that extra damage and lifesteal keeps me alive longer so that I can survive extended fights with Yasuo, and in some cases Zed as well.
JayenKei1 votesHmm understand that as a talon your focus is not necessarily to get repeat kills in your lane but it's to snowball your side lanes.
Here's a good rule of thumb. When you see your jungle ping going bot then you should shove the wave as fast as possible and get down there (this is why mobi boots are nice) this usually means a free kill/assist for yourself and three other teammates The reason why is that let's say they warded and they hug tower then most people back off. Know that if it's 4v2 a tower dive is easy (just make sure you warded the enemy jg well) doing this will allow your carry get ahead as it pushes him/her ahead in cs and experience and you could probably take a drag right after. Talon is a mid game carry so your job has to be to allow your side lanes get ahead. Sorry to say talon can't hard carry simply because he has so much single target burst rather than aoe like katarina
That's why dueling items such as bortk, but, etc aren't much use to him because he isn't a duelist rather he's a 0.5 sec burst rotation champ
I guarantee you if you gank your lanes more often more than likely you will win (unless your bot feeds the lights out)
ItsJustMania1 votesYou make a good point with everything that your saying, even though at silver its kind of hard to find others that ward well. And mostly with solo Q (at least when I'm playing solo Q) when diving, people could be full health and get hit by a tower once and they freak out. Also about you saying that Talon is a mid game carry, I almost if not all the time kill my opposing laner around level 4-5 if they aren't careful. and by then I'm already roaming bot lane as soon as I get my ult. This may be a wrong mindset to have with Talon but it works for me: crush the mid laner and make them useless, then destroy the AD Carry.
