How to play Katarina vs Kassadin?

Okay so, I love playing Kat, I wouldn't say I main her, I don't think I'm good enough with her to say that (I climbed up in ranked with my Support Nami), but I want to play her whenever possible.

Now, I will always, 100% lose lane against a Kassadin. Kass was nerfed you say? Well he's still broken from a Kat's perspective. From what I've seen so far, Kass is the hardest counter to Kat's kit in lane.... and that's fine. That's good actually. Champs need counters in terms of play style.

However, going with Riot's new motto of "counter-play" I was hoping someone could give me tips and tricks. Not to win lane per se, but maybe to fare a little better? Obviously it will be difficult, but if I can successfully learn a strategy to do decently against a Kassadin mid I'll be happy :3

Ever try running her with tele? Seems a little weird since you're mid and ignite is really good on Kat. However, you could always try starting boots + 4 pots, pushing your lane hard, let yourself get damaged a little and stay in lane with pots. Back after you have enough to get something, tele back into lane. Either:

He backed when you did and you can now tele back into lane, push the lane and roam
He stayed and you're stronger now and back to full hp
You can use teleport to gank bot + get dragon or something along those lines

Not saying this is full proof but it is a way to get around him.

If you want to kill Kassadin, you're gonna have a tough time. You could try grabbing stuff like Liandry's and other pen items to help.

Probably won't kill him unless he messes up badly. You can just push him in and try to roam.

kassadin deals with katarina well enough after six even before that, while AD mid picks like yasuo/talon deal with kassadin fairly well.

sometimes it's not about counter-play but about the counter-pick.

You have a few options as far as im concerned.

Pre-6 youll need ganks, if possible ask your jungle/team to focus entirely on mid for ganks before Kass hits 6. Getting babysat by your jungler will help you get to level 6 yourself, at which point your best bet is going to be roaming bot/top to get kills in those lanes.

Another options is simply to lane swap with your top laner if the scenario is reasonable enough, which in most cases it prolly will be.

Your last option, assuming you get no jungle assistance, is to simply play super passive/defensive and farm at your tower. Youll need to be incredibly wary of your hp because a Kass will still likely be able to kill you under turret if you get low enough, but if you bring teleport you shouldn't miss out on too much gold/exp nor should he be able to push down your tower very quickly.

The problem with the last option is that it assumes Kass will sit in mid while youre pushed to turret, which he more than likely wont. If you notice him roam you could always follow him and try to get some cheeky counter-roam kills or something, or you could just play Farmville mid and shove wave to tower then roam to the lane Kass didn't go to.

The likelihood of you ever killing a good Kass is pretty much 0, so your only options for kills are going to be in other lanes.

The thing is, he kills me/pushes me out of lane before I hit level 3-4 usually. I do no damage to him and he returns a crap tonne, meaning I can't even farm fast enough to push the lane.

My general strategy against champions who I know I won't lane well against (Annie for example) is to push and roam, but its so hard to do that against a Kassadin :/
