The pros are wrong, and why you should ignore almost all of their advice

Everyone's heard a diamond or a challenger say this when asked how to climb elo, "focus on yourself and keep a good mind, and you will carry your team, look at your own mistakes and you will improve" and what they say sounds completely legitimate, because most people who ask this are usually bad players, and can learn to gain from this, but then everyone assumes if you can't climb, you're bad, and gives you the same advice. One problem, there is no concievable way one good player, can carry 4 absolutey horrendous players, against 5 bad players, and i'm talking about gold elo. If they gave faker a team of feeders against 5 okay players, he wouldn't be able to carry, because a single 3/0 champion can never single handedly beat 5 2/1 champions. If your team is constantly giving free kills to the enemy at a pace that is impossible to follow with skill, you're gonna lose. Me, and 2 of my friends, all gold, just went on 6 game losing sprees and such in ranked, because every other lane fed, we did well enough, you couldnt tell from our match history though, having to try to defend your nexus at 15 minutes means you're gonna get dived and die, someone can go 5/0 in lane and be a great player who doesnt flame and always improves, but if his team is bad enough, and you'll see these teams anywhere below diamond 3, he cound end the game 5/15, and match history would tell you he fed. As someone struggling to climb to plat, here's the only plausible advice for good players with bad teams, duo with someone of equal or greater skill, 2 can carry 3, 1 can't carry 4. Don't believe me? imagine a 4/1 vayne and a 0/2/5 thresh, with an 1/2 mid laner, 0/3 jungler, and an 0/1 top laner vs a 2/4 adc, and a 1/2/4 support, with an enemy 3/2 mid, 2/0 jungle, and a 1/0 top. it's basically 2v3, with 2 players activelly comunicating, 2 of the enemy is useless, and three of your own team is useless, an adc support can 2v3 top, mid and jungle mid to late game. This has worked for a friend who used this method to climb from silver 1 to plat. Only restraints is not to duo with someone over 1 league higher than you, you could be an amazin gold, but you're still not diamond level, you could be a godlike silver, but you'll be crushed by plats.

TL;DR: If you wanna climb elo duo queue with a good player, it guarentees at least one less feeder on your team, this applies to bronze through platinum, diamonds/bad players only need self improvement to climb, because they are not good enough yet for challenger/bronze 1 etc.

I'm solo climbing. it's working fairly well, I even went on a ten winning streak and got to gold 2. I've been busy or I would actually get to plat I'm fairly sure. if you play good enough, you will climb. their advice isn't wrong, and if you are still having a hard time, it just means you need to improve.

The reason you need to improve individually is because, yeah you will get the bad luck of getting paired with feeders every once in a while. But when you DONT get paired with feeders, then you can play a good game.
