When to go into ranked and when to buy runes?

I am a level 22, leveling fast because I broke my ankle a few weeks back and don't have much to do, and I was wondering when I hit level 30, should I go straight into ranked? Another thing is that I haven't bought any runes yet, because I don't know what to buy. Any suggestions on when and what runes to buy? thank you

No, don't jump right into ranked more likely then not. And buy basic runes. Lucky for you most them went on permanent sale for half off Greater Mark of Attack Damage: 205 IP ⇒102 IP Greater Mark of Magic Penetration: 410 IP ⇒205 IP Greater Seal of Armor: 205 IP ⇒102 IP Greater Glyph of Magic Resist: 205 IP ⇒102 IP Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage: 1025 IP ⇒512 IP Greater Quintessence of Ability Power: 1025 IP ⇒512 IP

dont play ranked until you have runes, and you can play ATLEAST 5 champions per role WELL. Also, standard AD quints and reds with armor yellow and mr blues, as well as AP quints and reds and armor yellow and blues are good runes to start with, make sure they are all the highest tier. Other than that, some champions require more specific runes. The only other generic ones I can think of is penetration runes instead of flat damage.

runes and rune pages. it doesn't hurt to try out ranked. usually ranked games are a lot more competitive and serious. people flame a lot more there too tho.

I think it depends on how you function as a player in games in general. I played a bunch of normals after 30 and then hit bronze 3 the first time I played ranked. I hadn't improved bc I was focused on win/loss and my nomals mmr dropped until I played opponents where I was even on win/loss and so I had false hope I'd be like silver level.

For me, I need the rank to motivate me to focus on improving, and I don't mind a low placement bc I just need to improve to go higher. Some people though are really great at playing a game and regardless of win/loss focusing on what they could have done better and how to improve their play. That type of player does great practicing in normals before going to ranked and playing a lot. I'd say if you manage to hit 30 before Nov 11 play your 10 provisional games if you can to get a badge for this season. My roommate got me into the game back in season 2 and I'm so sad I didn't hit 30 till preseason of 3. I really wish I had a season 2 emblem even if it would have been bronze, but I guess santa baron is kinda cool too. :(

The bare bones minimum you need to enter ranked is two full rune pages and one champ that you can play effectively in each position. My recommendation before starting ranked is that you have four champions you can play in each position that fulfill different roles and a rune page that works for each of them, usually a minimum of four.
