Am I doing Support right?

I recently started playing League about 2-3 weeks ago, although I have played other MOBA's and know the general concepts. I have always found myself working best as a support player and was wondering if I was doing it right in League. I always seem to be behind levels compared to my other teammates and was wondering if that was the idea with support? (I have noticed that my levels catch up near end-game).

And in case anyone was wondering, I am mainly using Zilean.

yea, it´s normal to fall behind in lvls as support, as you spend most time early on either on the duolane (so that´s less experience than sololaners get) or roaming around to ward/gank (which only earny xp if you get a kill out of it). Usually lvls are mid>top/jungle>adc>support.

yeah, that's normal. more so if you are roaming a lot to assist other lanes.

also, kudos on playing zilean. he's one of my favorites, but was changed not too long ago. his bombs are way harder to land now, and his W also used to decrease the cool down of his ult :D

You shouldn't be significantly behind your lane partner in terms of levels (and depending on how the game is going you shouldn't be too behind your jungler either), especially during the laning phase. If you are, either you are dying too much, or you're backing/going up to ward too often at the wrong time, or you are roaming but not getting any results off that roam (ergo you're not getting your team kills or objectives).
