Can only play one role at my skill level?

Recently I have learned that upon hitting plat, I cannot play anything at a platinum level except support. I've mained support since I began playing ranked in season 2's end. I landed in silver 1 at the end of season 3. Here in season 4, I hit platinum 5 about four or five months ago. When I get in ranked, I can ONLY support. (or i do poorly and cause the loss.) Problem 1: If someone else takes support... I'm screwed. Problem 2: I don't always even want to support. Like, Yasuo and etc. are fun champions, but I can't play them in ranked because I'm bad at their roles.

I feel like after watching multiple coaching videos online, I understand in-depth strategy, itemization, rotations and etc, but my mechanics with those champions and laning in those roles are not even par. I really like mid and adc as well, but I literally suck at them lol.

TLDR : Tips on how to be better at mid and adc mechanically, along with lane advanced lane mechanics?

Heres what I do when i get into your situation (which has had happened to me a lot upon hitting silver, gold , and plat)

play fun champs in normals constantly. Play the same champ over and over. Play champs and roles you struggle with.

Ie: I suck with adc's so i lock in vayne. She's a pretty hard adc. But playing her top vs melees has taught me quite a bit on positioning and zoning.

This helped me go from gold 4 to gold 2.

If you are able to recognize your mistakes, then keep reminding yourself of them every time you die. Some of my biggest mistakes personally is forgetting actives on my items so every time I buy an item with one I tell myself "remember to use arch angels, remember to use arch angels" over and over.

If you are having trouble recognizing your mistakes try asking yourself questions like...

Did I have to be where I was? Which of my spells were off cooldown when I died? - Could any of those have potentially saved me? Am I utilizing my champion's power spikes correctly? I.E. Playing more aggressively after getting trinity on corki or Statik shiv on yasuo

It's not really a lane mechanic, but I'd suggest shaking up your itemization of Yasuo. His Q and E have static cooldowns, meaning that CDR doesn't affect them at all - so, building Ghostblade/Zeke's is a pretty bad idea. Also, thanks to the steroid on his ultimate, LW isn't usually worth the gold or the item slot. As a general rule of thumb -

If you want to splitpush - Shiv->BotRK->IE with Zerks If you want to teamfight - Shiv->IE->BT with Mercs/Tabis

After that, I'm personally a fan of going Randuin's+Banshee's, but you can also get something like Merc scimitar and a GA if you want a bit more damage. Try one of those builds and see if it doesn't improve your Yasuo play.

so like. your skill at your main role is probably a bit higher than where you're placed, but due to the fact that you don't always get that role, you're placed lower than you would be otherwise

ranked is not about having fun its about winning. If you cant play these champions its ok. Just stick to farm heavy mid laners like ziggs, top ryze dont over extend to much dont miss cs understand match ups. I'm not that good at playing mid but i will farm if i play ziggs and let my team do the rest.

It's not like u gonna get demoted or something. Play any role until u get better, Plat is not that hard.

Gosh I can't even delete a bad post anymore... x.x

Anyways, it is probably best to practice those roles with some lower elo friends just to get the hang of it. Honestly, it's all about figuring out what your enemy will do when you cs and responding correctly (and vice-versa).

If you get a chance you can figure out how to set up cs so you don't have any to hit when the enemy does (without shoving ofc). I haven't figured this one out yet.
